What names do you use for your characters?
if a game has default names i'll usually use those, but in every Dragon Quest game i always name the main character Jack.
does anyone else do this?

Any game I play where I have an animal companion I name it Patsy.

If a character has a default name, I'll keep it.
But if they don't (or it's a character creator), I name them either Omega or a cool sounding name like Edwin, Crowell, Nemira, Tether, Romez, etc.

If there is a cannon/default name, I go with that. If not, Jim. I select the default preset and name the character Jim. Jim is the best name ever created.

I usually keep default names but for create a character and save names it's either Totz or Zero
As for Females I tend to go with Nia or Rei

Cheela (duh), Astra and Neimi
for pets i have two
Cat like: Meper (my little fella)
Dog like: Domino (my now deceased dog <3)

If it has default names, i go with those.

Otherwise:

Male: Rolando, Oliver, Galahad, Quijote, Marcus, Tristan, or Vincent.
Female: Alice, Laura, Vanessa, Layla, or Luna.

For pets, i give them names of Greek Gods, or Greek Heroes.

Canonical names, whatever my mind thinks , in some games I use the same character in my little headcanon and Togashi in every single dragon quest

If there's a default name, I use it. Otherwise, I use my username. If I need to input a last name as well, I use Kagome.

I also used Gregor Samsara in the past, whenever I felt like joking around.

Depends on the game. If it's a profile name. Something like ASS or COCK or something. If it's a rpg I try to go by the vibe of the game. Usually use generators, but if that doesn't hit, I just put letters together. My Zealot character in Darktide is named Lyegra. Just letters that I pulled out my ass.

Either default names, my own name, or something stupid. I also had a weird phase where I would name the player character in persona after a character from a mediocre animated sitcom (simpsons, family guy, whatever)

Depends. If its a western game, I'm going for the first name that comes to mind, Jim, Craig, Tom etc. If its a japanese game I'm naming my character Kiryu.

Default name, if it's not available then Red, if I don't feel like naming them, I use protagonist name of the same gender of the previous game I played.

I am an Odd Duck, sometime i create characters in my head and "Rewrite" the game's story in my head so they follow their stories Unless the game is that iconic with their characters, otherwise i use my canon ones or my own in case of games where the character is my avatar

I usually name male characters Rupert There is a Youtube channel that I really like name Marsh, it's mostly focused on SMT games and RPGMaker horror. This moment has stuck with me ever since.

If the character has their own name (like in Persona games) I use that, otherwise I either use Ruri or my real name depending on how I'm feeling
