I'm terrible at naming stuff i choose this name in FF7 instead of just being called cloud i choose "cloud JAY" and the JAY is just like that JAY so everytime a character called my name they would say cloud then JAY how it sounds is basically a calm cloud then a loud JAY..... Yeah after the FF7 debacle i no longer try to name stuff like that.... In FF5 the game didn't give me a name so i choose sam i just go with whatever comes up in my mind.
In FF1 i think it was by far my best attempt at naming the team was:
James the Warrior
Carl the Thief
Leo the Black mage
Zeno the White mage
In ff3 another time i had to name people something i went with
Adrian (team leader)
Martin (white mage/healer)
Jason (warrior/dragoon/knight)
Samuro (monk/black belt)
Most names i use are probably inspired from something like samuro from WarCraft and Jason from Greek mythology and Adrian from half life opposing force.
In Diablo 2 i went with jill the amazon named after Jill from RE
