Do you have a good memories of PS1 Generation. If you have share story for us.

How similar to Doom 64? I owned that one too.
I meant more so in tense atmosphere and horror lighting. Doom 64 perfects it though. Doom 64 was a legit new game, has all original created levels for it, and is implied to take place after Doom I and Doom II. Doom PSX is a port of Doom I and Doom II with some new enemy placements and Doom II enemies showing up early in Doom I levels. There are a few original levels made for Doom PSX as a bonus. Watch the video, then go to Doom 64 video next.

11 years old, mod chipped PS1 for a birthday present in the year 2000.
I remember electrocuting dude's balls in Syphon Filter, peeping on Meryl in Metal Gear Solid, wondering what the hell was happening in the Honeybee Inn in FF7.

I remember the PS1 and how much it made my childhood better.

One of my first videogame consoles was a PS1 that my dad had (I also played a lot of SNES with my uncle, but that's a story for another day), and man... I played so much stuff during my childhood \o\

I loved 3D Platformers, my parents introduced me to Pac-Man World and I absolutely loved that game, the graphics, the gameplay, the lighthearted story, and while I struggled with the bosses (I hate Anubis Rex. A lot.), I will always have a special place in my heart for the first Pac-Man World.

But besides that game, I also played the Crash Bandicoot trilogy, Rayman 2, a little bit of the first Spyro game, the licensed games for Toy Story 2 (10/10 even today), Treasure Planet (a good game, but I never liked the boss fights), Atlantis (I still need to replay this one) and Lilo & Stitch (this game was much harder in my memory...), I really loved 3D Platformers and even nowadays I have a soft spot for the genre xD

When it comes to fighting games, I grew up in a Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha house, so I knew about Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Bison and Sakura, but for years I thought that Skullomania, Garuda, Kairi and Hokuto were regulars in the franchise... And I'm still a massive fan of the Arika characters to this day. I still love Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha, many people may say that the game isn't balanced (and they're right), but I have so much fun with that game xD

Another fighting game I played a lot was... Battle Arena Toushinden 3! And while that game was a lot slower than Street Fighter, my uncle and my sisters loved it, but we never unlocked all the characters sadly, I only remember unlocking Cuiling, Ten Count and Judgement.

I sadly didn't grew up with many racing games or with RPGs (I only got into RPGs during my PS2 days), but my childhood was filled to the brim with rhythm games, with PaRappa being one of my favorites, and Dance Dance Revolution Disney Mix being a absolute classic in my family. PaRappa wasn't that easy, but I remember replaying the first stages over and over again just for fun. And DDR Disney Mix... I discovered Eurobeat because of that game. I will never forget what that game thought me çwç

Sadly I don't have that PS1 anymore, my parents trade it for a PS2 when I was 10-years old, but I will never forget those memories of playing Street Fighter with my family, playing Crash 3 and trying to get 100%, or the incident of the Harry Potter game (I deleted my sister's save file for that game by accident). And while I didn't get to play a lot of the "Must Play" games of the console during my childhood, like Final Fantasy VII or Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, at least I got to play them afterwards on my PS2 or my PSP.

So... Yeah, I loved the PS1. It was a amazing "starter" console for me, and it showed me that videogames could be really fun. And it gave me Eurobeat. My parents gave me Eurodance, the PS1 gave me Eurobeat, you can't deny that was powerful xD

Spyro was the GOAT. Year of the Dragon especially. I think I actually overheated the first PlayStation I had leaving it on 24/7 trying to beat Spyro 1 without a memory card.

Some other good memories I have are playing MP on the Twisted Metal or Army Men games (particularly TM2, TMIII, Small Brawl, Army Men 3D or Sarge's Heroes 2) and engaging in all the dirty tricks one could use with everyones controllers plugged into the same console.

Playing Metal Gear Solid and being floored by Psycho Mantis repeatedly breaking the fourth wall, and then beating him by physically unplugging my memory cards from the console. That was cool.

Or playing Resident Evil for the first time and seeing how cheesy and funny it is, with how the dialogue is delivered.

Or powering through injuries to beat games. Like the first Harry Potter game with a broken thumb or sitting right in front of TV to play Treasure Planet because I'm legally blind and didn't have glasses at the time.

These are such precious memories!

Metal Gear Solid, Dino Crisis, Vagrant Story, Legend of Mana, Evil Zone, Battle Arena Toshinden, Soul Blade, Tekken...

And even though my console was kind of defective (it would only read most discs when turned on its left or right side), those were the best of times

Yes but they were all after its heydey when the PS2 was already out. My folks had bought me the smaller PSOne along with Mega Man X4 and SpongeBob Sqaurepants SuperSponge. Eventually I bought Mega Man 8 and later Marvel VS Capcom.

The only memory I have of the PS before I got my own was at a friend's house. They were playing Front Mission 3 and I was awed by the slow powerful movements of the Wanzers.

bought on day one with Ridge Racer, here in In Italy, so PAL version

i remember i modified it, due the hype to play some jap games like Metal Gear, that was released one year later in PAL

i still dunno how, but i reached to complete it :)

it wasn't original (first copied ps1 games were on gold-like cd's here), but then i bought the original PAL on release

I love this post!

PS1 is tied with SNES for my favorite console (I cant choose, dont make me!)
I was in high school from '96 to '99, so PS1 is my "high shcool days" console. I have so many great memories of playing it with my friends or at home with my brother. It was the golden age of Squaresoft jrpgs, and that was my favorite genre, but it also had a ton of great games in other genres like Metal Gear Solid and Symphony of the Night.
It is still my most emulated console today.
Legend.

The PS1/Saturn/DC years are some of my nostalgic gaming years because they were also my high school years.
Me and my friends would skip class just to go hang out at my place and play PS1 and Dreamcast at least twice a week.

Granted, they were into "normie" games but I'd buy normie games for them like Ferrari 355 challenge and Gran Turismo, stuff like that, but they also enjoyed some Fighting Games so that was fun too.

This is also when I got into JRPGs and a whole new world of gaming opened up for me.
I found the early 3d games of the PS1 and even DC rather janky and honestly I might have even given up on gaming if things didn't improve, but discovering JRPGs changed everything because I didn't have to deal with the jank in those games.

Still I enjoyed many 3d action games and platformers.
I was a huge Spyro fan and somehow, magically don't ask me how, I ended up giving Sonic Adventure 2 a 10/10 in the PC and Gaming magazine I worked for when it came out....that score haunts me to this day it's a 7/10 at best with how bad the controls are and those random knuckles levels.

This was also a time when I felt very "important" in the local gaming scene because I was a reviewer for a small, but fairly well known/popular PC and Gaming magazine and we were the only magazine in the country that covered Dreamcast games and most JRPGs thanks to me.
I proudly gave Chrono Cross a 10/10 and I still stand by that score

Being a game reviewer from 1998-2003 or so is seriously one of my favorite gaming experiences/memories

EDIT: holy shit it says Squaresoft not Square-Enix god I just got goosebumps :D

And the opening sentence of course only refers to them as Square...I was such a Square fanboy too god...
