One of my first videogame consoles was a PS1 that my dad had (I also played a lot of SNES with my uncle, but that's a story for another day), and man... I played so much stuff during my childhood \o\
I loved 3D Platformers, my parents introduced me to Pac-Man World and I absolutely loved that game, the graphics, the gameplay, the lighthearted story, and while I struggled with the bosses (I hate Anubis Rex. A lot.), I will always have a special place in my heart for the first Pac-Man World.
But besides that game, I also played the Crash Bandicoot trilogy, Rayman 2, a little bit of the first Spyro game, the licensed games for Toy Story 2 (10/10 even today), Treasure Planet (a good game, but I never liked the boss fights), Atlantis (I still need to replay this one) and Lilo & Stitch (this game was much harder in my memory...), I really loved 3D Platformers and even nowadays I have a soft spot for the genre xD
When it comes to fighting games, I grew up in a Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha house, so I knew about Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Bison and Sakura, but for years I thought that Skullomania, Garuda, Kairi and Hokuto were regulars in the franchise... And I'm still a massive fan of the Arika characters to this day. I still love Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha, many people may say that the game isn't balanced (and they're right), but I have so much fun with that game xD
Another fighting game I played a lot was... Battle Arena Toushinden 3! And while that game was a lot slower than Street Fighter, my uncle and my sisters loved it, but we never unlocked all the characters sadly, I only remember unlocking Cuiling, Ten Count and Judgement.
I sadly didn't grew up with many racing games or with RPGs (I only got into RPGs during my PS2 days), but my childhood was filled to the brim with rhythm games, with PaRappa being one of my favorites, and Dance Dance Revolution Disney Mix being a absolute classic in my family. PaRappa wasn't that easy, but I remember replaying the first stages over and over again just for fun. And DDR Disney Mix... I discovered Eurobeat because of that game. I will never forget what that game thought me çwç
Sadly I don't have that PS1 anymore, my parents trade it for a PS2 when I was 10-years old, but I will never forget those memories of playing Street Fighter with my family, playing Crash 3 and trying to get 100%, or the incident of the Harry Potter game (I deleted my sister's save file for that game by accident). And while I didn't get to play a lot of the "Must Play" games of the console during my childhood, like Final Fantasy VII or Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, at least I got to play them afterwards on my PS2 or my PSP.
So... Yeah, I loved the PS1. It was a amazing "starter" console for me, and it showed me that videogames could be really fun. And it gave me Eurobeat. My parents gave me Eurodance, the PS1 gave me Eurobeat, you can't deny that was powerful xD
