Started to get back into reading. I bought a used Kobo Clara HD and installed Koreader. Not sure why I haven't done this sooner. Also been using Calibre to organize my books.

I use a reader for the numerous advantages that the format provides (bookmarking, reading percentages, font and color changes, even text-to-speech). I simply cannot go back to physical after that.

Same, and the fact you can carry multiple books on single device. I also did a memory card switch and upgraded my device from 8GB to 64GB. For manga/comics, I just been using an old android tablet for now.

I've been trying to get into reading again thanks to my wife who has been a big reader recently. I am more on the physical book side even though I do have few on my tablet also, just haven't gotten used to the digital way yet myself. Wife goes smoothly between both. Maybe I'm just stubborn with the physicals!

Both.

Have a lot of epubs on my tablet, mostly Light Novels, those are a pain in the ass and expensive af if you want the whole series physical. I also keep a lot of pdfs for lots of research subjects, which has been a habit since college.

I do prefer physical books, the feel and smell of paper is quite soothing, and when technology fails as it always does, I still have a whole library to read.

I use both depends if the book is cheap I will buy otherwise I use reader to track down hard to come books

Thinking about attempting to build one of these opensource book readers, once the motherboards come back in stock. Looking for repairable devices.

Also PDF's can be funky on a reader. MUPDF reader has been my go to on Android platforms.

I got into reading this year and used an old ipad for the most part but recently just started going to my local library and reading wtv the librarians recommend. I used to be an avid manga collector but after moving so many times I started to really hate lugging around a collection that I had zero intention of reading a second time. so I sold most of them for ps2 games lol

Both. I prefer physical books, but since I don't live in a mansion, there's only so much space I can fill. Some books are too expensive, too, and the cheaper alternative editions often have such tiny font sizes that I get headaches trying to read them.
It's a different story when it comes to comic books, manga, graphic novels, and the like. Those I read physically almost exclusively, then I either gift them to friends or try to resell them at a lower price to help offset the cost.

Both, but I prefer physical books and natural light cus myopia :p
The same! Though, for me, it's because of a series of head injuries I've had over the years, which left me sensitive to bright lights, among other things. Printed text is much, much easier on my eyes than any sort of screen, though some of the simpler, low-contrast Kindle types of readers are perfectly acceptable, as well.

Myself, I still buy Role Playing books, and greatly prefer a hard copy whenever possible. But these days, many are only available as digital copies. I use a Print On Demand option whenever possible. For those that I must get digitally, we have a prehistoric iPad (Mini 2, I think??) that still works well enough and gets decent battery life. It is now, more or less, exclusively used as a PDF tome.

Not to mention the fact that many older, out-of-print RPG books can fetch a pretty penny on the secondhand market. That's where PDF scans from fansites come in very, very handy ;->

i only buy books i REALLY like (eg fear and loathing ;)

I used to read physical but it's simply too convenient to read epubs on my phone nowadays.

I do both. I like to own me books but it's not convenient to read physical books for many reasons. I would rather use my smartphone to read them everywhere and only in my home I read me physical books.

However for me physical books will always matter the most and it explains partly why:

lolol

I don't read books, but I do read other kind of things such as magazines, guides, documentation or instruction booklets. I always prefer physical, of course, but sometimes it is not possible.

What I would want to buy is a digital notebook with e-ink, I mean for my work I write tons of things on paper because I don't like having my to-do's on the computer screen, and I would want to have something like that but digitally so I can stop having papers all over the place lol. I don't need color, just gray with basic features like a notebook, but I don't seem to find one cheap :(

Neither, I use the library.

Both ways, depending on the book and situation.

If it’s one of my ~5 favorite authors, and I want to keep the physical book on my shelf, I get a hard copy (used or library if less-than-favorite). If it’s a book I’m interested in reading but not in having physically long-term, I get e-book version. Most books I don’t want to keep physically, I don’t believe in filling bookshelves as a conceited shallow symbol.

My e-reader (by a company I dislike) is super convenient for reading when commuting, it’s lighter weight and easier to hold than a large book, it’s easy to put in a jacket pocket or small bag.

Some books are only available in one format or the other.

People should be using the benefits of each.

Like videogames or music or shows or movies, many books are mediocre, and you have to find the great ones (in your opinion). I recommend trying to find authors you like, and then reading books by them. It’s nourishing.

I don't really find--or rather, make--the time to read as much as I used to, so the infrequent cost of physical books is a nonissue for me, as are accessibility options. I'd probably read in bed more were it not for the fact that my favorite light novels are all paperback, so I'd probably end up crushing Holo's dumb mug in my sleep.

I use Kindle for practical Reasons, I'm from the southern hemisphere in a country with an specific high tax on books, in other words, physical books are super expensive and they are even more expensive when I try to import them from amazon, digital books allow me to bypass that problem.

For anyone running a ink reader check out this project https://github.com/koreader/koreader. This also works on Android and Linux as well.

You can liberate your reader from big tech. Amazon is doing some funky stuff I'm not a fan of.

I would agree with this. at the end I believe physical media is king.

Yes both! For our library is full of hundreds of books which we can't part with, and for ease of course reading on the little black rectangle is easy and accessible!
