I try to be. Not that i'm successful all the time, but i believe it's still worth the effort. Like a scene from The 7 Samurai, were some villagers try to save themselves and leave the others to the bandits, the samurai scoulds him by saying something in the lines of selfishness is death. As villagers, they are on the same boat as the others and thinking only about you will make your life and the life of others miserable.
I think helping others or just being nice and understanding not only make their life a little bit better but mine as well.

Nah i played only SH1 , but heard the town invites people who done wrong and harmed others to "redeem" themselves

I see this question as a deep one and only a vote, don't give it justice, so i wanna say this
I'm not the one who's gonna determine if I'm a good person or not, it's the people around me and how impacted they are by me being in their lives a good person to me is someone who always trying to be there and do his part whether he wants to or not, even the small things counts specially when they are recurring for a long time, I'm trying my best to be the person everyone around me see me as... it's not an easy one time thing I have to keep at it and that's how I see everyone should act if they wanna be a good person

Well I am not a Saint that is for sure,but I try to be a good person and I think I am one. I am not mean to anyone unless they are mean to me and I treat most people with respect if they treat me with respect to.And I try to help people out when I can but I am still Human after all and bound to flaws.
