Do people blend stuff these days?

I have a blender that's actually older than myself, but it hasn't seen any action since I begged my mom to make me licuados de banana (basically banana smoothies) when I was particularly young.

Nowadays, most people I know don't even own a blender and I have always wondered why...

I mean, it's not as essential to your kitchen as, say, a toaster oven or a microwave, but I remember it being more common than this!

Do you even own a blender these days? How often do you use it? What do you make with it?

I used to, with the Magic Bullet. But it lived a happy life, as the motor burned itself out.

I do have a blender, but I don't use it as much as I used to. I used to use it all the time for smoothies and milkshakes using fruit & milk, but fruit has gotten really expensive here lately.

They're not bad for blending spices, or making sauces with though. Although, it can be hard to get the taste of those spices/sauces out once you start using them for that. So I guess you'd probably want separate ones for smoothies and spices/sauces

Well i have a blender. I used it to make pesto sauce. Didn't turn out great, I put too much salt in it. But my blender is good.

Hah, I always used to beg my mom for banana smoothies as well!

I have an old one that's not powerful enough to shred anything substantial - tried shredding almonds in an attempt to make almond milk a while back and almost melted the thing - but I still use it to make banana or matcha smoothies every now and then for sure.

if you have fresh fruits you probably would use it every day. i love my fruit juices and licuados de banana :P

It would depend. It’s super convenient but I tend to prefer food processors and coffee grinders, but blenders can be good for milkshakes.
I try getting a decent quality one though as cheaper ones are often very loud, and my mother agrees too.
