Discord server shutdown

I was wondering where the discord went when I was trying to find it. However, i kinda prefer old school style forums instead. Its cool

that I have to disagree with and honestly im sick and tired of people always apply a broad brush approach. One can´t condemn every one because of bad apples. It´s just like every one days says all men are evil pigs.

I been part of 8 discord servers sense 2016 and honestly there has never been an issue and every one on does servers are nice. Sure we get some assholes now and then but they are swiftly banned.

It all depends on what kind of people are the moderators do they let asshole get away with shit becuse they are closed friend or to they stay impartial and ban even their friends when they go overboard.

Also the server is general population dictates what server is will be. I mean if most people on the server is nice and grown up it will be a pleasant server and assholes would be reported and kicked faster than they can say shit. But it the server is full of asshole it will be rotten to the core.

I will say the same thing about discord as I say about men. Just becuse you had a few bad experinces does not mean all men on the planet are shit. It would be like saying all black people are criminals just becuse a few are and is very racist to asume.

So never ever apply a broad brush approach to things becuse of a few bad experinces.

Oh, and grooming. I forgot to add most discords are dens of groomers

I hadn't visited it, it's a bummer it's gone but it sounds like it's for the best. It doesn't take much for things to spiral out of control, although that can be true with any social media community. When some friends and I had a household Twitch stream several years ago and got a tiny following, even in the very small Discord for our tiny community, there ended up being drama. Spike does a ton for us as it is by hosting and providing this website. If the Discord was causing him stress or anxiety, it doesn't sound worth it. I imagine in some way the existence of the Discord led to the existence of these forums, so that's a net positive in my book. For people who made friends and memories on the Discord, it's not like those friendships need to go away just because that server is gone. It's just the thing that brought you together initially. That's how I try to look back on the forums, messengers and diary sites I frequented back in the day that are now ancient history. Who knows, maybe someday down the line it will make sense to try the Discord thing again.

damn that sucks. Was one of the few servers I was using. I enjoyed posting and seeing random screen shots and clips of games I and others where playing. Can't really do that in a forum setting.

I understand that broad generalisation is not good but personal experience doesn't change some facts and let's not blind ourselves about the issues coming from some social networks such as that one.

Not everyone is one but you take a risk by being on Discord. I'd say that parents shouldn't allow their kids on it or even straight up say it's a +18 network. There's always a non-0% chance to stumble upon an ill-intended person anywhere.

the only reason i joined the discord in the first place was to the access the roms when you implented that workaround some time back when the ESA was coming at you hard. nothing's lost on my end.

My Discord server outside of its inactivity is literally meant to be a place for chill people like me to talk. Its an 18+ server, but it doesnt have any of that innapropurate stuff people coined the term for. In fact, despite that, I still ban it from my server cause I personally dislike it no matter how old I am. In terms of moderation, its so chill I barely havr to take action against someone's actions and if it gets to a point where I have to, I will do it in an instant LOL. I wont even hit the enemy a couple times before its dead,.ill pull an ak47.

Maybe if Spike thought through with the people hes allowing to moderate his place the server wouldn't been removed, but I think that it being removed is for the better for not only him but for everyone else. Like I said many times throughout the times I had Discord, people taint the platform for having a horrible fanbase of minors who always get themselves in trouble. It depends on the place you're going in, and it can all be removed if you simply don't join servers.

Everything you've said pretty much sums up my thoughts of other's interpretations of the platform.

That's the big difference, traffic. It's easy to keep a server for 20 people chill, or a hundred even. I'm pretty sure the discord was getting tons more than that not to mention new users coming and going on a constant flow and the lack of tools to monitor users on an admin side that would keep the site free of liability

I have a suspicion that this was the sight of the almighty mod im thinking of LOL.
