TO the surprise of everyone, EA( yes that EA) did something nice and gave the C&C games on steam an update to work with the work shop. But also released the source code for the Two originals, Renegade and Generals Zero Hour.

I can;t wait to see the fireworks!

EA did what now?

I'm actually not surprised. EA already released some of their older games for free.

I wanted to say not surprised too, but seeing this from current EA is actually one of the most unexpected things to see despite how old the game is

Maybe they will wait for someone to make a game with the source code, and then EA will use it as their own.

Part of me wants to believe this is some sort of elaborated, James Bond-like super plot for something truly evil... but maybe this is their way of apologizing for killing Westwood.
Apologizing at this juncture would mean admitting guilt and they're too heartless for that. Still, it's nice of them.

Ah you give them too much credit; they are neither that smart, nor that repentant.

I don't remember if it was EA or another company, which had that game design competition and in the terms it said that whatever is submitted belongs to the company.

Wouldn't put it pass them not to do something shady.

EA finally making good decisions love to see it. Open EA BIG back up to make street games and return need for speed to 90s and 2000s style of content and I might actually start buying new games again.

It was either them or Blizzard. I remember Blizzard trying to pull a 'whatever modding you do in our engine and games belongs to us' in their EULA. Poor bastards, trying to avoid another Dota.

Next, it would be nice if they "apologized " for Maxis in this fashion.
The fact that they ever thought that fucking with Will Wright and his vision was a good idea speaks volumes about their hubris. Doesn't matter if it's SimCity, the Sims or Spore all they had to do was let the man work his magic. They just had to EA it, didn't they?

A plague does plague things and EA does EA things LOL

I think they can;t keep up with the newer evils of the gaming industry. they cant buy any more older teams to kill because most are kill already. Like how many well loved studios went down with Embracer? or at Ubisoft rn? EA can't keep up with the newer efficient life destruction.

Beaten at their own game, eh.
