Chie Being Recasted in Persona 4 Revival

Personally she was overly county talking to me - no hate against the actresses but I wouldn't mind a new person taking the lead for this character ... What are y'all thoughts on this

Teddy and Yosuke are also getting new voice actors.

Par of the course for Atlus and Persona remakes, I guess. They seem to cheap out on the voices. P3 Reload was the same. But I dislike it, some new voice performances just don't hit nearly the same, like with Mitsuru.

Teddy and Yosuke also feel major because they have quite colorful characters and the new voice actors sound stiff.

Kanji will also be hard to match as well as he has a lot of energy in the original.

Chie on the other hand, the new v.a. sounds a lot like the old one, going by the trailer. There were times I thought it was the same voice actress.

Good. No disrespect towards the actress but I prefered the original PS2 Chie actress. Chie's voice in Golden and the spin-offs was just wrong to me.

Like the rest of you, The company probably also thought the character needed a new voice for the update. And it's not like she voiced the character for over 30 years, as Kotono Mitsuishi has done with Sailor Moon.

It will be the second time Atlus replacing Chie's eng VA. Poor girl can't catch a break.

If we get anything like P3R, maybe she gets cast in a minor role? Some of OG P3 VAs were recast in minor roles on P3R

The same reason I send test subjects into live reactors to flip reset buttons. The replacement is cheaper.

reminder that the Japanese cast has been the same since the original 2008 PS2 release.

*The rest of the Revival cast hasn't been confirmed yet, but it's pretty much a given.

It´s never fun when a character you like get a new voice actor but some time it´s needed for one reason or another and some times a new voice actor might be the better than the lats one.


Take Paimon´s First VA she was a literal Son of a B word a horrible human that tried to destroy other´s life because she was a selfish C word and worst type of human ever and im glad Hoyo came to their sense and fired her ass. Paimon still sound annoying but that her character but at least they got a better voice actor that don´t try to destroy others life.

Man I hope that B word is not standing and flips burger on Micky D.

Everyone got recast in P3 so I don't think anyone was under any illusions that P4 would somehow keep their VAs. Besides, these VAs are 20 years older now and I imagine that, that will affect your ability to sound 16 even if you're great at what you do. Plenty of VAs lose their ability to perfectly recapture their most iconic characters decades later, it isn't a knock on anyone's skill, just the nature of time.

That photo of hers posing with that chair gives me strong capcom vibes, if she was a character on a street fighter game or Resident evil game It wouldn't feel out of place at all

Nanako also sounded very different in the P4R trailer, and Teddy didn't sound (dare I say?) BEARY similar to our favorite, pun-loving bear. He sounded really serious and kind of flat. But Kanji still sounded a lot like Matt Mercer, who already sounds a lot like Troy Baker, so I'm good on that front.

Yeah man, OG Chie was best gurl no question--vanilla P4 she was my number one. The new Chie sounded so shrill and irritating I barely bothered with her social links in P4G. We went from a martial arts-loving, down-to-earth, chill hang, to someone who felt like she was desperately trying to get attention. They said they did it to make her sound more like the Japanese V.O., but sometimes localization is better than the source material (only sometimes, though).

No real skin in the game, but I can't help but feel for the actress. Maybe it's not how she is, but if I'd really fallen in love with something I'd done, like really feel like I put myself into it, I'd lament as well, though I'd force myself to be at stage five before I took to social media.
