Castlevania_-_Harmony_of_Dissonance_-_28JP29_-_01.webp

This is a hack of Castlevania - Harmony of Dissonance, made by a chinese unknown hacker. It adds smalls touches on graphics, tries to have higher difficulty with swarms of enemies on screen, but the cooler aspect if it is the music. It has higher-quality compositions of the original soundtrack, getting closer to a symphonic melody instead of 8-bit chiptunes, and they sound really nice, while keeping the experience faithful to the original. The whole game is in chinese, though.

the music is the best upgrade, you need to play to hear the different! but the enemy come out from no where like it's a bug!

I think the only way for a gba to produce cd quality audio would be through streaming music, like they did with Serenade Under the Moon. And even then, it will come out from the gba, so it will get a little crunch and noise just from being a gba game.
Yeah you're right. And I really liked serenade under the moon but what killed me is when I got to the part that I'm supposed to go up the chapel area and I was getting killed so bad. I think I could have made it if I found a double jump. Sometimes I give up too easy.

I'd wager this targets the Japanese ROM, yes? the largest hurdle with wider hack compatibility might be exactly that.

I want to say I am blown away by how much better the soundtrack is in this than the original harmony of dissonance. But we all know that Sega Genesis and super Nintendo both had better synthesizer chips. But when I play one of those games in an emulator I'm just using an emulated synthesizer chip. So I wonder if there is a way that a Game Boy advance emulator could just emulate a better synthesizer chip to play the same Game Boy advance music. Like this guy ripped all the music from AOS and posted it to YouTube and I'm quoting here:

"A cleaned version of the songs made with Synthfont, using a soundfont and midis ripped from the original ROM."

And it actually sounds better than the original music played through a real Game Boy advance or an emulator. So I don't even know if what I'm thinking about is possible but I really want to say thank you for posting this hack the music is awesome!

Someone on youtube says this is more of a music replacer than an overhaul so to speak. Still cool. I always hated this games stock OST. Thanks for the upload!
This is not the usual music overhal rom that replaces the music for different songs. The songs are exactly the same ones from the original game, but with better compositions and output.
I don't think there are videos of this specific hack on youtube either.
