Castlevania Megathread

I know that posting a meme is easier than trying to debate but at that point every game series ever are fundamentally the same games if you don't take every details into account.
Sometimes meme funny . ::thinking

And i had that one unused for a long time and it was finally time to unleash it . ::lurking

You made me laugh, here's your new Star Fox game. Guess what? we are saving the Lylat System from Andross yet again.
Then again is this an issue to see Ganon as the main antagonist in most of the Zelda games? Or Bowser in the Mario series for that matter?

And let's talk about how people requested K.Rool to become the antagonist again when DKC Returns and Tropical Freeze were new entries that didn't feature any Kremlings despite a decade hiatus for the Country series.

And how people liked to see Ridley as a final boss in Metroid II's remake

Complaining about seeing Dracula again in Castlevania would almost be seen as a ridiculous way to complain.

Then again is this an issue.
There are no issues, there's nothing to argue about but you seem eager to discuss this. We are just enjoying the fact that the retell the same thing. Which was the question of the thread and the joke.

Yes, they have differences, they have nuances; nobody is denying this.

Not quite as many as Mario or FF7

I'd love to try HCR but I'll have to download the DS collection.
So be it. Though get it on a sale, if you must. I didn't regret getting the collection day one just to play that game. I still have not played any of the other games yet. Nor really plan on it at all.

The first time I ever played the original Castlevania was on GBA. When they had that brief lineup of classic NES series games re-released on the system. Though my first CV game was Circle of the Moon.

CV1, Bloodlines, Belmont's Revenge, Chronicles, and Haunted Castle Revisited. Bloodlines being my all time favorite.

I'd love to see a Rondo of Blood hack with a "linear" progression where you do the "prime" levels after the normal one.

I’d like to discuss (or just hear people’s opinions) about Castlevania’s confusing timeline.
So, there’s this YouTuber who made a HUGE documentary about it, and that got me thinking:
“What do people actually think about all this?”
Random, right? Yeah, yeah… I know. Being random is kind of my talent.

And then I discovered that there are people who don’t even consider Lament of Innocence to be the first Belmont battle against the darkness.
And that is an ABSURD— HOLY SH— sorry, I lost my composure.

Whether it’s because the game feels kinda tedious to some people, or because they just never played it, I’m saying this based on my friends’ perspectives and the very different opinions I’ve seen.

Honestly… I don’t really know what else to write.
I just wanted to post a random thread, drop this here, and read the comments later XD

Here’s the video from the madlad himself:

I have the same stance on this as I do with the Zelda timeline. Prove it. Not to you, but to the creator. If they want to claim there is some continuity let them lay down the batshit insane ground work needed to justify that. Otherwise, I'll assume each is its own separate work/universe unless otherwise stated in the narrative.

I never followed the timeline that much, because I wasn't interested in the MetroidVania side. I prefer the ClassicVania. I am aware of it, but I don't go that deep into it.

If I’m not mistaken, they released an official timeline, right?? There was also another YouTuber who explained it too (and yeah, I’m a Zelda fan as well, my friend — we’re in this together).

Still, I’d say it’s confusing. ::hellmo::hellmo::hellmo

Man, I got to know the metroidvania style through SOTN, but I ended up preferring the classic ones… seriously. I know exploration is cool and all, but sometimes I just wanna beat the crap out of Dracula and go home, you know?
Not rack my brain walking back and forth all the time.::peek

Exactly why I stopped caring for the MetroidVania style, after Circle of the Moon. I do recommend playing Haunted Castle Revisited. It's part of the Dominus Collection.

I'm saying in game/work. Don't care about external guides/whatever. If something isn't stated in narrative it doesn't exist as far as I'm concerned.

OHHHH i get it now! Sorry, The only ones that actually have a connection are Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask XD kinda sad, honestly.

oracle of ages and seasons can be made to be sequels to one another through the use of the end of game password. they referrence the events of the other game as a prequel and zelda actually shows up at one point along with the witch twins from ocarina of time and beast ganon as the true final boss.
i'm fairly certain that a link between worlds is a direct sequel to a link to the past, but i'm not familiar with those two games, so i don't know for certain.
timelines can work for some series, but not for some of them. zelda would work better with things being vauge.
i know a lot of people like to discuss timelines for whatever series they are playing/watching/reading, but i lost interest in the castlevania timeline a long time ago when my favorite character, sonia, and my favorite game, circle of the moon, were deemed non-canon.

fwiw the best examples came after Circle of the Moon, I might go so far as saying that's the worst one of those.

Doesn't matter if it's considered the best or worse of them. I still don't like the genre as a whole. Aside from about two exceptions: Strider (2014), and Shadow Complex, if talking about 2D or 2.5D. You can add Shinobi: AoV as it has backtracking for upgrades and at larger levels, as you get further.
