Agreed totally! I tended to find on the web generally that people can be critical of it despite Castlevania 64 being the best 3d game for the series to date, which is saying something given that it's now 25 years old. Atmospheric, large scale game with open areas that were fun to explore, good music, action / combat is challenging, cool bosses, 3d platforming, story is simple yet engaging, short but sweet cutscenes. Game was linear but progression from one area to the next was smooth, and it felt like an adventure. Was much better than the two 3d games on PS2 (which were ok games with great soundtracks) and the PS3 reimagining which I really didn't like. Dunno why konami found it so hard to continue down that same path of game design. The level design of 64 was so superior to the subsequent 3d games. This was the same era of gems like Goemon 64. What a decade for konami, good times. My first interaction with the Castlevania series was Castlevania : The adventure for the gameboy and since then Castlevania hooked me .
Castlevania Chronicles was peak in its artstyle (classic and somehow arranged mode too) and the soundtrack in all its versions are just juicy soundtrack goodness .
About Castlevania 64 /Legacy of Darkness:
I think these games are the true concept to push castlevania into the third dimension even to this day .
Even the plans , cut-content and overall concept they got in mid-development are awesome and could push castlevania into new heights . While the N64 games play very well , its still needs some improvements and has still huge potential for sequels and evolving the concept much further to cement castlevania back to its heights .
The levels were not only astoundingly huge but had details , decorations and cool designs that exploration was always a treat .
I dont get why people want Souls-like gameplay in Castlevania when Castlevania 64 plays much smoother and refreshing by how fast and snappy the controls are (with few minor gripes) and combat doesnt end up into tedious Life-bar melting sessions .
Not every game should be a copy of Bloodbourne .
Well in Castlevania64 i had a souls like experiment! I didnt know how should I open the doors work with sun and moon and I stuck there like ds1 ghostSouls-like gameplay in Castlevania
I love how he just gets angry and starts stomping the floor the first time you defeat himWell my faverite boss in Castlevania 64 was skeleton guardian. He was a funny boss to me.also the count Dracula,he was so cool!
Well first time I hardly manage to beat him. He scared and make me laugh whole of fight!starts stomping the floor the first time you defeat him
I actually tried writing a Castlevania 64 review multiple times before, sometimes for video format, but I was unsatisfied with all my attempts.Hey I see you writing a review. I though your first review will be castlevania series.glad to hear someone else is joining the writer guild.
I undersatnd what you mean. I should change my topic game too. Some part of review writing is hard to me,because i stick with report writing for a long time.I actually tried writing a Castlevania 64 review multiple times before, sometimes for video format, but I was unsatisfied with all my attempts.
Now that I'm writing that review of Rift of the Necrodancer (that hopefully I won't give up on it), I'm figuring out a way to write something that makes for a lightweight and fun read. Who knows, I might finally write a Castlevania 64 review after that!
I thought about earning money with youtube videos at some point, and while making videos is not off the table I don't think I want to make a job out of it.I undersatnd what you mean. Well just curious, did you try earn money by writing game faqs? I heard some people earn 500 dollars as bounty to write HTML faqs on site.
I try it but as it isn't complet yet and need PayPal(I'm ban from PayPal even I didn't make an acoount) so i give up on it.
I like froum focused on good topics and talking instead of make money or sell stuffs(which have more problem of course!)
The Bull fight was awesome. I know it's not a boss but the vampire encounter in the villa was cool.I love how he just gets angry and starts stomping the floor the first time you defeat him
I really like the bull fight!
I never forget the first time I heard this, it blew me away. Used to listen to this ost while playing other games (DMC 3).lament of innocence had such a solemn vibe
What a fantastic track. I thoroughly enjoyed castlevania chronicles, the super challenging gameplay, slightly darker mood, and the soundtrack. I think konami hit a peak with it's music around this time: Rondo of Blood, chronicles, 64, SOTN, Goemon 64, MGS, Gungage. They even had their own band the Konami Kuheika Club. Anyway this track and the level that goes with it, top notch stuff:i'll leave this masterpiece here for now might come with a more elaborate answer later
Any part in particular? Or in general...Man, Rondo of Blood is really kicking my ass.
Any part in particular? Or in general...
Yes and no. Animation was good, story was okay-ish, but I felt that they turned Alucard into a joke.Lots of great Castlevania games for sure.Did anyone enjoy the animated shows on Netflix?
git gud fake. It's not much harder than mega man games! In general.
I mean there's Seal of the Eclipse, but GOD only knows if that is still alive...I've been playing ever since SotN on the PS1 so this series is near and dear to em. Pretty sure I've played every mainline CV game there is as well as some spin-offs. I never get tired of romping through Dracula's castle and combating the nightmarish hordes that dwell within. Heck, SotN is my favorite video game of all time and playing it is one of my favorite PS1 based childhood memories.
So with all do respect towards Konami I issue unto them this one humble request.
GIVE JULIUS HIS OWN GODDAMN GAME ALREADY!!!!
I suffered like i haven't in a long time watching those shows...Lots of great Castlevania games for sure.Did anyone enjoy the animated shows on Netflix?
If it's the bridge ok, but if it's the clock tower, i mean...IGA basically made us practice those at least three times before.Man, Rondo of Blood is really kicking my ass.
Probably first game syndrome, remember SOTN was the first game in the series to take the metroidvania approach, to be fair to SOTN though, that easy difficulty also probably helped it immensely to become as popular as it is.it is odd how low the difficulty of symphony of the night is compared to titles like castlevania 3
i wonder if that was the intentzors
Vampire survivors is great, tons of content for the price of 1 indie game even when not on sale, the music is amazing too.I just modded my DSi, I need to go through the GBA and DS rpg's. Never actually got through them. I had Aria of Sorrow as a kid but never beat it.
My homie recently bought me Vampire Survivors because I was talking about how I was curious about the Castlevania DLC for it. They got everybody in that hoe. I'm working towards getting Soma Cruz and Maria. Crazy that they got that many characters in it. Really cool little game.
My favorite CV game though is probably Lament of Innocence. I like Leon a lot. Still not as cold as Trevor though.
I also liked the Anime. I don't have a problem with the changes the same way I did with say, Devil May Cry. Castlevania is at least fun to watch, and the characters are decently written. I like what they did with Alucard in that. Still haven't gotten to Nocturne yet though.
I get it 100%Vampire survivors is great, tons of content for the price of 1 indie game even when not on sale, the music is amazing too.
I really like lament of innocence, too bad it's no longer canon.
The anime i 100% disagree on though, i find it disturbingly insulting to the series but hey to each his own.
Order of ecclesia had a issue that most people don't know about, the game incentivises grinding specific glyphs for ability, this means like you said, it led to a rock-paper-scissors case, of the ds games i think order of ecclesia is my favorite, but not because of that, because it's a unique take on the series and most of the game takes place outside of dracula's castle.I marathoned GBA+DS castlevania games 3-4 years ago and I had a great time
Order of Ecclesia tho... soured my experience at the end! Enjoyed the story and the characters but not the gameplay!
Not a fan of it's Rock-Papper-Scissor constant combat balance and obnoxious difficulty design choises
Why am I fighting a boss inside such a small room! Why every pixel of a giant boss has hitbox detection?
