There are many articles about this. So not too long ago, GOG added the first 3 Resident Evil games to their lineup and it turns out, it took a lot of convincing for them to agree to this. That's because they believed that we already have the remakes which are superior and people should just ignore the ps1 titles. I think Capcom are incredibly dumb and it also just feeds more into this terrible modern remake culture mindset. (More on this here:
) The og Resident Evil titles are not only still great games but completely different from the remakes. Might also offend someone with this but I dare to say they are even better. Except for the first one but you should still not overlook og 1.
Needless to say I'm kinda pissed off about this revelation. What do you guys think?

When possible, all of a company's products should be available in perpetuity. If not... well, you know

I think that even at Capcom, objectively speaking, they know that the original trilogy is better than the remakes. It's a deliberate move to make them inaccessible in order to boost sales figures for the remakes. It's a technique that is also used by Sega, as we saw with Jet Set Radio.

A fine example of an uninspired era in video gaming, churning out the same old games but with a few tweaks.

Crapcom almost pulling a Rockstar Games, when the original 3D era GTA games: GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas were pulled from Steam in favor of the awful Definitve Edtions. Doesn't surprise me companies are starting to do this.

I heard that the Definitive editions are fixed now.

It's a shame really, you would think Capcom would be proud of their history & would actively allow their history archived & preserved further...

As for remakes I see them as a secondary, alternative version to play alongside the original. No one is taking those away and plus now I can play a different version. I love SH2 & the remake, will defend that till' the end and i totally realize that not all of them are good alternatives, but at least for me, when it does hit good, i'm grateful.

HEAD LINE NEWS! AAA Companies hates money and hate their fans and have their head so far up their own asses they can smell the fart before it´s made.

That´s today's news.
"I am glad both Dino crisis and RE 1-3 are on gog which means the for once in their life time connect 2 brain cells together even if it was just for a fraction of a nano second.

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. It feels like companies these days are ashamed of what they made in the past, and seem intent on burying them deep underground and/or trying to replace them.

The annoying few ruining it for everyone, I figure. Those who complained about "paying for roms" brought on an age of remakes that take up time devs could be spending on more interesting things.

Exactly what I was going to say, capcom KNOWS that the original RE games have a certain charm that the remakes can't replicate, so if those games ever become available on modern consoles and PC that will definitely impact the sales of the remakes in a negative way.

Capcom shit the bed damn near fifteen years ago for me. They cancelled Mega Man Legends 3 the day before a fully playable demo was set to release, then announced the next day that they were putting Mega Man in the next Street Fighter... as a joke character based on the US box art for Mega Man 1. They literally pulled the rug out from under Mega Man fans then spit on us while we were on the floor. To make matters worse, Mega Man X, Zero/ZX, and Legends were all left on cliffhanger endings, with the last title (ZX Advent) having some extremely heavy hints about how it eventually connected into Legends.

Since that day I haven't given Capcom a single cent. They fucked over the fans of one of their most iconic franchises and until Legends 3 eventually gets released, I'll continue stealing their shit and not giving a damn. Not like they've released anything worth shit since that point anyway that wasn't just a re-release/remaster/remake anyway. Legacy collections? No thanks. I can emulate them just as easily and better.

Knowing that they actively tried to bury the OG RE trilogy getting released through one of the best game preservation platforms to ever exist just cements my dislike of them. Credit where it's due though: they *did* end up caving and allowing the release, and it did well enough that Dino Crisis got a release as well. Capcom realized there was money in it, so they let it continue, and hopefully will continue to do so for other classics they own. That said, even a broken clock is right twice a day, and I have no doubt that it was motivated purely by profit in the end, rather than being convinced that it was the right thing to do.

Basically: It's always morally correct to steal from Capcom. They don't care about their fans and they've done little but fleece us for ROMs in a pretty package for the last decade. I don't expect anyone else to follow me in my crusade for Legends 3, but I'll be damned if I give it up myself.

I find it weird that capcom is this ok with putting up some of their "high profile" titles on GOG while they just recently set up some weird clunky drm on some of their older titles on steam.

No Crapcom, especially RE3 Remake is not better than the original at all. It's objectively bad and its graphics doesn't matter. Games are not their graphics, we ain't watching a movie but modern Crapcom is a wannabe $ony lol.

Sounds like the kinda disconnect you're always going to get when the leadership of a given company is staffed by financial/market analysts rather than people with a passion for whatever product the company actually produces.

Any normal company that sells products will never say no to the idea of reselling their old products by popular demand (i mean, they dont loose anything)

But in this case, they just dont want players to realize that their "new superior versions" are in fact not that great if compared to the originals

So they loose money because of that lol

Their logic is the fact that how toxic PC community can be, demanding old PC games to be updated and if not stop being sold on Steam even when it takes 1 minute to set it all up to make it work and even there is already community patch for it. Knowing this before selling the game you gotta update it because people don't even wanna bother with Windows compatibility setting and that's why you have "better shot" at making money by selling a remaster/remake instead of just a simple patched version of the game so people now can play in PC Master Race™ way lol. Then it calls for a remaster version necessarily or people will be like "damn they didn't even update the game, what a rubbish port" and then while you go for remaster let's develop some shitty remake to "sell more" logic kicks in lol.

Lose. Not loose.

A video game company does something dumb. In other news, water is wet.

Don't people here get tired of regurgitating the same thread topics and whining endlessly?

That is not how business works.

Making and publishing software for any platform has a cost, and they calculate the risk involved. Capcom more than anybody in Japan has engaged with PC and actually made it their lead platform. Monster Hunter saved them. They want to push out new content, even if remakes, to fill their schedule and have strong revenue each year.

PC community toxicity is just nonsense pulled out of your ass, making developers into drama queens in some soap opera in your head here.
