Bring back the Ban

This place keeps letting the worst scumbag users get off scot-free for continuously breaking the extremely easy to follow rules, spreading vitriol and poison everywhere and at most getting away with a slap on the wrist, only to re-emerge a week later spewing drunken rants breaking rules left and right.

I’d say ”don’t feed the trolls” but the way the site is set up right now it’s like they’re being fed by design, and the rest of us are forced to just look the other way while trying to use the forum like normal people.

The mods are powerless to do nearly anything and keep getting the brunt of the flak because Spike doesn’t want to deal with the occasional angry email from disgruntled ex-members threatening to ”take action”.

This weak Reader Mode shit clearly isn’t working, and just lets toxic assholes keep waltzing around barfing everywhere, and just pushes more and more well-meaning and amiable users out because the trolls and schizos overpower them, and protects the worst offenders from any sort of repercussions.

We don't deserve praise for doing this shit (even when it's for free), but we also don't deserve to be looked down on for using the tools we have been entrusted with to the best of our abilities.

Even though I currently do not agree with the OP, I have to say that it was pretty surreal to enter an open discussion by Berry, see it usurped through conscious derailment over a long sequence of messages and then be asked by the same Ton not to interfere and to immediately throw himself off the moving train for the 'common good'.

But I myself also suffered a similar manipulation in a certain recent discussion, so I will avoid adding more to this cauldron and will just wrap it all up with a little face like this →

It may also be true that I’ve been on the internet since before the ongoing puritan apocalypse, but where are the links to these horror discussions? And if there’s some user you don’t like, can’t you just ignore them and focus solely on the people and discussions you’re truly passionate about?

But I guess the usual suspects will ignore this basic netiquette and will therefore go to Spike with a mindset for a conversation like that.

What I wish would happen though, is a mod create a DM with people who are at each others throats and everyone talks it out there with respect. If we can’t bring back the Ban System why not put up a “Wall of Shame” .

A posted list of the offenders. Therefore less interaction with the perpetrators will diminished. I know it may sound like discrimination but still it would lessen the interaction with those trolls.

Also, some people should be banned for the things they do outside of RGT. Cause not banning them for that stuff can cause problems. A friend of mines left RGT cause they got tired of the mods not banning bad people.

With respect, I disagree with this in the strongest possible terms.
That seems super heavy-handed and frankly authoritarian. Gives me Karen vibes. Everyone has an opinion on who the "bad people" are. None of us have the authority to decide "you are a bad person".
Stick to saying specific behaviors/actions are not allowed here, and enforce that.

(Of course that is just my opinion. This is Spike's website and he can and should do things however he wants. He is doing us all a great service by running this site and the Repo and I dont envy the shit he puts up with)
