This place keeps letting the worst scumbag users get off scot-free for continuously breaking the extremely easy to follow rules, spreading vitriol and poison everywhere and at most getting away with a slap on the wrist, only to re-emerge a week later spewing drunken rants breaking rules left and right.

I’d say ”don’t feed the trolls” but the way the site is set up right now it’s like they’re being fed by design, and the rest of us are forced to just look the other way while trying to use the forum like normal people.

The mods are powerless to do nearly anything and keep getting the brunt of the flak because Spike doesn’t want to deal with the occasional angry email from disgruntled ex-members threatening to ”take action”.

This weak Reader Mode shit clearly isn’t working, and just lets toxic assholes keep waltzing around barfing everywhere, and just pushes more and more well-meaning and amiable users out because the trolls and schizos overpower them, and protects the worst offenders from any sort of repercussions.

I ain't blaming you , I'm just saying that if I get two more warnings I'll be one of those abusers , right? I could post boobs and get but never bother anyone

Also, bring a public warning/ban log to the website for transparency (this is not towards you, wiwi, that's another site suggestion).
With a public log, you're able to question the concept of abuse to the mod in question. Not up to me.

Then why are you putting every banned person as an abuser when you can get ban over smaller things?

I never had a chance to say this in the past, but I do believe a purgatory setting (a la Reader Mode in this case) should have been in place from the beginning as sort of a buffer zone, this way they get one more chance to get their act together. I always felt the pre-Reader Mode period was a bit draconian in that it was a straight-to-ban case for quite a number of people, and most of the time you're wondering what the hell just happened (of course, I'm not often in several areas of the forum, so my knowledge on what went on is limited apart from a couple cases of users going off at the Mods).

At the same time, in this day and age, people changing is rare. When I saw the message that no bans would be issued (except in a few rare cases since), I knew this was going to be a problem sooner or later. We are at that point. This place was disarmed, and now the trolls are running free to do as they please.

Start arming the nukes again.

I'm not putting anything. Clarify rules, synchronize mods understanding on those (do they even communicate?), bring a public log and you won't see contradiction.

And more important, you'll set the environment for the audience you want in it. So that either the good or bad faith people won't join to begin with.

The thing I can barely understand is why people do fear transparency in here.

There's already a solution if you don't want to see certain people's posts and don't have the self control to not respond to them.

Just click that button and you no longer see their posts.
Unless you click on this.

What we're debating here is far from cyberbullying, pal (I know that's just a joke). But who you want to see around, you know what I mean?

Also, some people should be banned for the things they do outside of RGT. Cause not banning them for that stuff can cause problems. A friend of mines left RGT cause they got tired of the mods not banning bad people.

Here before it gets nuked sadly
I know. It was dumb but it was literally the first thing that came to mind when I saw the thread. I guess I should have blocked out the no no words.

I get what you're saying but sometimes the best thing you can do on the internet is just ignore things you don't like.

I have warning logs in one of my sites.

It largely works, but it tends to turn into dogpiling/harassment pretty easily and even members who have been there for years fail to stop themselves from going there.

I don't think it would be good to have in such a new community.

Check it out again.

You are literally evading the thing you just tried to prove to work, pal.
Or maybe I turned ignore off after I took the screenshot because I don't use the ignore feature because the idea of needing to hide someone's post because I just couldn't bear to see it is hilarious to me.

I find it hilarious too, not what's being discussed here tho (applying rules uniformly).

No what's being discussed is begging for more janny power because some people lack self control and can't manage their feelings.

To many polarized opinions 😔
I just agreed to Graw lmao

Now I disagree.

Oh hey, I remember the warning log question from when I was a mod. Ultimately we figured it would only encourage more attention and dogpiling on the folks who get warnings, as everyone weighs in with their opinions. Mob mentality can go pretty crazy, as we see on social media pretty much every day.

That said, have you actually forgotten why you were banned *multiple* times? Also, @Waffles do y'all just not punish ban evasion or what's up? You know this is DrunkOcelot/Carl/WhateverTheOtherOnesWere, he's earned multiple bans for insults, threats, and just so much transphobia, but you let him sit here and pretend he's just an impartial observer asking innocent questions. Where's the consistency, we banned that Hitman troll like 37 times, but taking ten seconds to deal with this guy is a bridge too far?

Well. As I said there's a perfectly valid and working solution to avoid seeing things that will upset you. You choose instead to insist that the only option is for mods to ban people. It seems like someone with some self control and proper management of their feelings would be able to use the existing tools to avoid having their feelings hurt rather than relying on someone else to make the bad things go away.

I have to admit that I don't see that much toxicity, but probably it's bc i'm mostly on profile posts bc I rarely knlw what to say on threads

Maybe im barely here but i rare see anything bad besides like 1 post here and there

Lemme put this in really clear texting:

If you and I both are starting from the affirmation that the sun is round, we can still discuss if this is red, yellow, blue or green.

But if you start from the affirmation that the sun is a triangle and I start from the affirmation that the sun is round, there's no communication process. Cause there's no interlocution.

We need rules here that conform those specifications. This is beyond mod's work here. It's defined by Spike's role here and the platform backing up the forums (xenforo or its design).

I only see people here complaining on distribution of power, since the power is ALREADY centralized on Spike's role here.
