wow that's actually sick. this gog preservation program is really doing a lot. i appreciate that people who were unwilling to emulate can now properly experience the title on pc. i'll probably just emulate it if i want to play it again but i think every game should be natively compatible with pc eventually, for the good of the medium.

hope its good updates that only fixes bugs and things and not change the game
Yep, when it comes to GOG ports they only fix stuff related to performance/graphical issues and the like.

Here's the full changelog:

1.0 hotfix changelog
  • Improved support for controller hotplugging.
  • Added full support for Sony DualSense Edge, Amazon Luna, Google Stadia, and NVIDIA Shield controllers.
1.0 changelog:
  • Full compatibility with Windows 10 and Windows 11.
  • 2 localizations of the game included (English and Japanese).
  • Improved DirectX game renderer.
  • New rendering options (Windowed Mode, Vertical Synchronization Control, Gamma Correction, Integer Scaling, Anti-Aliasing, and more).
  • Improved audio engine (restored missing environmental sounds and audio configuration).
  • Improved keyboard and mouse support.
  • Improved Warehouse and Crane minigames.
  • Improved F9 exit screen.
  • Issue-free battle and combo system (all crashes have been fixed).
  • Issue-free cutscene scripting.
  • Issue-free task switching.
  • Full support for modern controllers (Sony DualSense, Sony DualShock4, Microsoft Xbox Series, Microsoft Xbox One, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch, Logitech F series and many more) with optimal button binding, vibration, hotplugging and wireless mode.

It's stuff like this that makes gog superior to epic, full stop.

It does not look like much of an improvement over the ps1 version... The price seems to reflect that so it's fine I guess. I'm sure there's an audience for this and I'm just not in it.
I do like the concept of the GOG preservation program overall though. I don't want to be too negative here.

Yeah it looks like they just fixed a bunch of issues with the PC port to bring it up to par with the original. It's nice for people who want to own it officially, I guess.

This new release still has forced bilinear filtering on. You have to use DGVoodoo or some other method to disable it. I hope the Nvidia graphics panel can do it. They're offering anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering though.

Great news. I tend to prefer hacked and uncensored versions of old games on the emulated hardware, yet the GOG Preservation Program is a fantastic addition to the usually silent and penniless work of hackers, rippers and pirates to keep games alive and well. The more sources and services we have of game conservation, the better ::megadancebaby.
