Breath of Fire IV - Better Descriptions By Naro Version 1.02 Overview While a massive improvement over BoF3, BoF4 still has quite a lot of hidden information. Information that the average player just has no hope of figuring out. It would have been nice to know that Lyta raises holy resistance, or that Abbess raises magic resistance. This hack aims to address these issues by updating descriptions of various things in the game: weapons, armors, accessories, and hidden master bonuses. With this hack, players will know exactly what each of these things do and can build their team accordingly. Once […]

There's a new "change cancel button to O" patch; would we be able to add that onto the Uncensored/Analyze/Dengenki Store/Better Descriptions mix as well?

What emulator does this save work in? Does it work with duckstation?
Yeah, duckstation is gtg on PC and Batocera here. For what it's worth, the memcard can work with libretro/retroarch-type emulators if you change the file extension from mcd to srm...so I've been told.

They all can stack??!!

I already had pre-patched uncensored+dengeki game along with patched memory card. So just apply this Better Description patch on that patched game and that's it??

Wish the patched game also could access Retroachievement.
Yeah, and application order likely doesn't matter at all; each is changing different aspects. Don't forget the Subbed FMVs, if you care about those. Can't speak to retroachievements as I don't use it, but I'd think the checksum of such a stack would be rather unique (By checksum/MD5 is how it works as I understand it).

I went ahead and tried to apply all of the 3 patches (Uncensor w/Identify restoration, Dengeki Store, and Better Descriptions) just to see if it works, and it appears to, definitely boots just fine and plays. That's always nice!

I obviously haven't had time to test with any actual rigor, and I didn't apply each of the patches I used to a stock copy and compare hex addresses (HxD compare) to make sure hacks didn't overwrite each other. It does play fine (I only played to the Cliffs area from start), but this is no guarantee that it won't choke and die later on because overwriting conflicts, etc.

Methodology:
-Grabbed BoFIV USA and JPN, applied uncensor, ticking 'restore Identify'.
-Applied Dengeki Store (to bin method) to above output (Note: my possibly flawed understanding of the mem card patcher is to allow *any* save file for the game to access the store, and is not needed if starting fresh with a new save on patched disc. Edit: Wrong. Turns out the Dengeki release in Japan had a separate demo disc of sorts that was used to prep the memcard for the store, per Gemini after demanding proof lol)
-Applied Better Descriptions to above output

tl;dr: the big 3 patches can coexist, at least enough to work at the start, possibly more. Testing needed, very much an at own risk proposition.

Better descriptions and Dengeki Store are there and working fine. Just downloaded an endgame save, converted, and had some real fun finding my way out of the last dungeon and back to the store area. Uncensored content not confirmed, but it should be gtg. Everything else is golden (so it would seem, played last castle a bit with all characters).

Dengeki Store (Mt. Glom in Gold Plains area has a southern path, MUST HAVE patched memcard):

The patched memcard thing is a pain. I decided, since you have to save in a slot first to patch it, and since it'd be real easy to save in a new slot, rendering that slot unable to go to store — and thus giving me future grief when I forget all this hassle and play it — to just save to every slot and patch them all to start with. And package it with the CHD file ofc.

Attaching said save file to make testing things that much easier should someone wish to do the same. Save slot 15 is the Mt. Glom store save, the rest are dummy placeholders that are store patched and can be overwritten. Thanks to the top result dexdrive save-maker from gamefaqs for the cleared save, definitely helped.

This is awesome, thank you. Are you willing to share the prepatched iso as well?

all mods should work with this one, author post on reddit:
I haven't personally test it but it should be compatible with everything that does not change the text of the things I changed. The text for weapons, equipment, and accessories are in their own separate area. No other mod I have seen touches this place. A few people have told me that they are doing a run with multiple mods at once (including this one). I haven't heard any issues from them so they seem perfectly compatible as I expected.

I was about to ask if this patch include other hacks, like the Uncensored + Dengeki Store Restoration version; but it seems not...

Maybe someone could combine all hacks into one in the future?
actually agreed this would make the best hack/mod there is.

Does this also include uncensored/cut contents from Japanese version?

Will wait till it gets added to the Dangeki store hack.

It would be the ultimate way to play this game.

for real? damn Im about to start this game.. I got sidetracked on other games and milking attribute increasing items thru steal/ pilfer and now here I am where the timer stopped counting and Im like at 750,000 g.... edit- im talking about breath of fire 3 in that stuff
