Bleeding-heart wife says it's "inhumane" that I keep all of my portable consoles indoors all the time.

She says they were made to be outside. I told her that they're better off inside where the thieves can't get at them. Our neighbour left his Steamdeck outside on a warm day and it was never the same; developed mysterious memory issues afterwards.

Do these consoles look abused to you?

look just because Nintendo makes commercials about random groups of friends playing Switch outside, on the roof, and at the Bball court doesn't mean it's true. lol

My consoles never see the sun. They only leave the house if I'm traveling, and even then they're only played in the hotel. You're doing the right thing.

It pisses me off all of the pictures you see of things in front of windows with bright sunlight when you're looking at product pictures on retail sites or amazon. Like if you're shopping for a media rack or shelf. Yeah! Put all of your media in front of UV rays for several hours a day!

She needs to understand that at the end of the day, they're still gaming consoles. The ONLY time in which a portable system leaves my home is during a road trip.

I don't take mine anywhere, they're too valuable and expensive. And nothing video game related should be anywhere even in the remote vicinity of sunlight.

Well my PSP exploded because my momma left it under the sun (despite I told her not to change its location, such a rebel she is and what a coincidence I'm too lol), so my scientific take is portable consoles are a vampire so they should stay away from outdoors, even moon light is dangerous!!!!

lolol

A childhood friend of mine was so careful with his Gameboy Color that he used to say it ”couldn’t tolerate air”. So he NEVER played with it outside.

You are too optimistic. Consoles and games are things that you need to seal, then vacuum packing and store inside a waterproof-weatherproof basement with no light contact. And then, only use computers and emulators to remember what is playing with them :)

How in the...Outside where I live is ROUGH! If I leave anything outside and I mean anything it's getting burned, rained on, or stolen! Indoors is the best place to store electronics period!

You should tell her that taking a Game Gear in public makes women madly want you and you only want her to want you, that's why you leave it next to her <3

The only times I remember playing handhelds outside of the house are when I played Game Boy during recess in elementary school and when I was a teen who hanged out at the mall and had my DS in my messenger bag. I was really into Electroplankton, lol.
