What is the best way to buy games in your Opinion and to keep it fair not only to buy Retro Games but also modern games to a good affordable price and that has often a good library of games for you to chose from.
I tried to make a poll with all Choices that came to mind but there are more and I am sure about it so share you way to buy games that is the best way and most low cost way.
I also added Gamestop but who knows how long they still have and In Germany they closed everything already

top 5 are the first 5 listed in the votes.
True but I would say my primary option would be Ebay as I love having my games physical a Flea Market can also be good but its to much depending on luck if they even sell games at all I was there already and they had no games at all.
GOG is also good and preferable to Steam as you actually own the games you buy.Steam can be good if you are okay only having the license for a game and not the game itself but they often go on Sale and a have a huge library.

As someone who has been buying games for a while now, most of the options have their cons LOL. I'm gonna just be super honest here.

I like ebay because I can see pictures of what I'm buying, find a seller who actually will ship my games IN A GODDAMN BOX AND NOT SOME ENVELOPE BULLSHIT, and of course you can get hard to find stuff there. Downsides? Scalpers of course. Plus the fact that 80% of ebay sellers don't take good pictures or even take pictures at all and send you things in shitty envelopes. You have to be patient and find the right seller. I love the fact that most of these ebay fucktards don't seem to realize that video game cases have GODDAMN SPINES because they almost NEVER take a picture of them. *Sigh*

Gamestop...no, just no. NOOOOOOO!!!!

GOG/PSN/Steam

Screw that digital, rent a license, no physical copy bullshit. If you're gonna go that route just find a fucking sailboat and hit the high seas. GOG is the best out of all of those shitty options though, at least it's DRM free and they give you extra goodies.

Facebook market place. Well, you gotta use Facebook so that's a thumbs down right there

Flea market. Really depends on where you go. Sometimes flea markets are barely above Gamestop in terms of the condition and quality of what you're getting, but you can find good stuff sometimes and get to know sellers. I would lump in pawn shops in this category too.

Electronic Store you know of. This is potentially the best option. I have found local businesses that are way better than some stupid Gamestop, better than shitty retailers like Target, Walmart, Best Buy, etc., and better than Amazon. Obviously though, this depends on where you live and what's available. There was a retro toy/video game store I lived by once that had things in immaculate condition, the store was clean, and they had layaway/pay monthly options. Being serious gamers/collectors themselves you could sometimes find valuable and rare stuff there.

eBay is pretty hit and miss, but is probably the best online place for 2nd-hand physical games. Especially if the people selling them aren't over-inflating the asking price. I got like 4 Xbox 360 Assassin's Creed games on there for $10 not too long ago.

Digital is GOG. If I have to buy something digitally, I'd rather it be on there. I hope plenty more good games go through the GOG preservation program.

Epic can be ok, provided you only play what they give away for free each week. Obviously, the quality of the free games can vary and sometimes they only give away digital currency for free to play games, but you do get something good now and then. Although, that practice really discourages me from actually spending money on Epic. I have no idea how it can be profitable.

There's also boutique places like Limited Run Games, Super Rare Games, etc. for physical buyers where they print physical copies of games in limited quantities. Downsides are that you have to pre order early, and may be waiting forever for your game if you ever get it at all as a few places have become notorious for not fulfilling orders for entire years (still waiting on my goddamn physical copy of Chained Echoes for the Switch). I also fucking hate how Super Rare Games package their stuff but I seem to be in the minority with that opinion. It looks pretty, but it annoys me trying to peel that fancy sticker off without damaging it. Most Super Rare Games releases are shovelware anyway, but they do put out some high quality titles from time to time.

You also don't know what condition games will be in when you buy from boutique places like this. I got a Switch game from Limited Run Games a few months ago where the cover of the game case was partially sticking out of the outer plastic sleeve leading to some nasty spine damage. Sometimes Switch games just come out of whatever place they manufacture these things like that. This is why I like SEEING what I'm buying before I put money down for it.

You also have places like iam8bit games that have a tendency to stuff things into their releases that barely fit into the case which leads to damage somewhere whether it's the manual (the one in their special release of Bombrush Cyber Funk is way too big) or even the game case's outer artwork due to the stuff inside the case pushing against it. I had a copy of their release of The Pathless where they stuffed way too many art cards in the case and you could barely snap the case shut. This lead to some dents/crinkles on the case's cover.

The biggest upside to buying from boutique places like this is not getting screwed later when their games end up on ebay where scumbag scalpers who will burn in Hell someday sell them for three times the price.

I found that video about Limited Run games

I have a love/hate thing with Limited Run.

It's cool that they are helping give more games physical releases, but they are also partly responsible for the insane mark-up those releases get on the 2nd-hand market.

If you missed out on an order window, then your only option is the scalpers on eBay who DID get an order through. I miss ONE Shantae game through them and now it's well over $1000 on eBay.

Can confirm it took me FOREVER to get my copy of that Monkey Island anthology that they put out a few years ago. I can understand that a bit, because there is a lot of stuff in it that they had to source. Still took nearly two years from the order date to get delivered though

For the record I don't actually want scalpers to burn in Hell. My previous post was a bit harsh. I would love to punch all of them in the face a few times though...

And maybe kick them in their private parts

And maybe stab their car tires

Okay, okay, I'm done.

Don't worry you where not to harsh Scalpers are the plight of the earth that hell is to good for those people those are the same people who would stockpile food and jack up the prices in a war and let people starve to death for there profit.

Think I'll go with Ebay, flea market, gog and the "german choice" :D Admittedly, I have many games on Steam, just because it has been my first address of getting games once I had a PC. In the last 2-3 years I tried to tone it down and get games on Gog whenever I I'm fine with a digital version that can happily sit on my 20TB EHD.

Ebay and flea market for everything console related and the local market (Saturn in my case) for the rare cheap and hidden germ.

Lately, I’ve scored some good deals on Vinted, but let’s just say my range is pretty broad.
Oh, I didn't know that Vinted also allows selling games now. We are only using it to buy new shoes for the little one :D Time to reinstall the app, I guess.

Wich one Saturn or Media Markt or is there a specific one I did not hear of.
Not that there would be much difference between Saturn and Media Markt anyway.
I'm still very old-fashioned I go to the store and buy the games.

That's always my first preference, but my local stores always have very limited selections

Same with me and the Media Markt they quickly get rid of all old Gen to push newer Gen consoles and games I am surprised that they still sell Ps4 Games to be honest but that is probably because the Ps5 barely has any games.Anyway needless to say I can't buy Ps3 games there anymore and it has a very limited selection anyway.

You can still get something at Saturn and Media Markt but unfortunately not as good as in previous years.
