I recently tried to play Tetris DS and EA's Tetris for the PSP again after only playing Apotris for a while and man, i cant play those games anymore.
Apotris is very snappy and precise when you move the pieces from left to right. On those older official release titles, it feels so sluggish compared to Apotris. It has a bunch of modes and customization options.

If you ever want to play a great Tetris fan version play Apotris. Its amazing.

Still my favorite one.

I'm not usually a fan of puzzle games, with a few rare exceptions, nor am I a fan of Card Captor Sakura. But one of the best Tetris games I've ever played is Tetris with Card Captor Sakura: Eternal Heart on PS1, which has some great music.

I love the atmosphere of Worlds and Connected.

That whole vibe of saving the world with insanely pretty and pleasing backdrops as you played with that entrancing soundtrack.
Same can be said with Connected, I think the visual appeal helps solve that missing thread Tetris has for me sometimes.

I like Puyo Puyo Tetris.

The mix up makes it interesting, instead of just tetris again.

Only played the GBA version. Didn't know about other versions.

The visuals of the console versions are just bliss. The 'worlds' or rather planets you explore are so varied, the sound design and music for this game was just exemplary and top notch.

I looked up the GBA version, looks like a lot of its soul had to be taken out for the sake of being ported.

love puyo puyo tetris too
i just cant back to the sluggish movement compared to apotris.

yeah the gba port is a butchered port imo cause of the obvious hardware limitations. It made me look for alternatives for the gba. thats how i stumbled upon apotris and never looked back.

tetris ds no doubt
i like the ds version very much.
i like the 8 bit background playing old games.
the music is great, the visuals are great the music when you finish a marathon run is great.
But after the quickness and snappines in apotris i just cant go back anymore.

For modern Tetris, Tetris Effect is top tier. The experience is second to none and has nice quality of life features.

For a pure Tetris experience, I would say Tetris DX is my personal choice, but there are MANY Tetris games and I have not played most of them.

Also, shout out to the Atari ST version of Tetris with its quaint soundtrack :->

Why people think i like Tetris? IS JUST STACKING!

Seriously, i came to like Tetris: Rosy Perspective, a nice update of the usual formula while retaining the game's base game, for the "X game with a twist", i love Tetris Plus 2, it has a cool Puzzle mode where you make an absentminded archeologist reach the bottom clearing lines, it also has a great graphical design (Female archeologist my waifu)

thats why i like apotris so much
you can customize the block sprites, the background and the gameplay itself like rotation system, drop speed, if you want to hold pieces or have a ghost piece... etc. etc.

ITS NOT JUST STACKING!!! sorry i get carried away when it comes to tetris.
how dare they say its just stacking

TGM3 Terror Instinct is probably what we're supposed to say as the "Correct" or "Hardcore" answer.

I think the one I played the most was Bloxeed, though.
