Best remakes?

Ys: The Oath in Felghana simply for turning one of the weakest entries into one of the best in the franchise.

Lemme guess.... The "Gnorcs-With-Guns", right?
Yes its so stupid that they changed that but Guns bad so we can't let kids watch Actions Movies Lord of the Rings and Star Wars Either as they also have bad Guns in them. I swear the Logic of those people.

They said that they censored it "to fit with the theme of a Gnorc factory", but it's still mind-bogglingly dumb.

Mega Man Powered Up box art

Yeah one the most idiotic decisions they could have done and its just weird why they censored it.

The ones I were going to list have already been listed, but I yeah agree with:
  • Resident Evil 1
  • Pokémon HGSS
  • Spyro Reignited
  • Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap
I'll add Resident Evil 2 as well. It's the best kind of "remix"-style remake imo, where it's an amazing game in its own right, and doesn't feel like it replaces the original.

Totally forgot about this one.
Loved the cutesy style and level editor. Definitely better than Maverick Hunter X, imo.

Super Robot Wars Original Generations on PS2, it takes the 2 GBA games, fuses them and turns them into one massive PS2 game, it's also a perfect entry spot for the franchise since it only has original characters and units, while also being the start of the OG subseries.

I think my personal pick is the Resident Evil 4 remake (I'd put both versions in my top 25 games lol) but I have seen that mentioned already here. And then ofc RE 1 remake has been mentioned plenty and deserves it.

I'll go to bat for the Dead Space remake instead. EA just reusing a game that really isn't that old sounds like a recipe for disaster, but it's inexplicably really good. I like the detailed look of everything, voicing Isaac gives him way more agency, and the enemy peeling system is so gross I love it. Also it'll probably go on a pretty big sale again around Halloween.

That Wonderboy remake is wonderful.

I think I'm in the minority as far as Mario All-Stars. I do think it was an incredible value, especially the +World version, but I'd rather play the original versions so they look and sound right. I'm not sure why, but 16-bit SMB feels out of place, the same way the NES trying to do World graphics in Mario is Missing feels out of place. Idk

Pac-Man World Re-Pac, they turned my childhood game into one of the best platformers ever, tuning the bosses to be harder except the Clown race, that one is made fairer, mechanics are refined and the plot is expanded including a happy secret ending where you get to spare Tocman/Orson (Well, that depends on how sympathetic you saw him in the OG game)

DOOM 64 is a good game, sadly N64's controllers aged not exactly right, fortunately there is now a remake with the modern controls we are now used and love, making the exterience practically butter-smooth, aside of the bells and whistles a PC has in option department compared to a cart, oh, and there is a extra chapter that makes this game bridge Classic DOOM with 2016's canon

Musical changes split opinions aside, OFF is a great fine tuning to the classic RPG Maker grandpa of the Earthbound-like RPG, for starters you are actually required to THINK in battle, no longer Auto battle is viable, even if you wanted the option was axed anyway, the game looks prettier without losing the ominous minimalism of the classic one, hud is cleaner, adds a neat Critic-predictor that lets you know when your next attack will be Crit, letting you aim it due to the ATB, and while the plot remains the same, we get four secret bosses based in the Macguffins you collect

Resident Evil 2 REmake retains the scary factor of the PSX original wwhile tuning the mechanics, and due to obvious technological advances you get both games in a single experience, RE 3, on the Other Hand
