It happens: a game comes out and it’s pretty mediocre, and after a while it falls out of the collective consciousness, but you see what others cant see in it. So, what game is it?

I love Ichigo Mashimaro and all things related to it, including the PS2 game, even though all things considered it’s nothing special

Played Genji recently. Game has pretty high production values, really feels like a first part Sony game. Mechanically it's a pretty fun hack n slash and the graphics are pretty great, but damn if it ain't one of the most forgettable games I've ever played. 😅 Design wise everything is very bland, nothing really sticks after you finish it. The very definition of mid. Despite this I'd probably give it another playthrough sometime.

and yes the sequel is the giant enemy grab game 🤣 Still haven't played that one yet.

Castlevania 64 - Legacy of Darkness for me. Gave me such good spooky vibes playing it. The controls are a little funky and some of the later stages were kinda meh, but something about it is still fun for me to play on occasion. I especially love playing as Henry and blasting everything in sight with the revolver. Nice choice of topic!

When i was 11 there was a Walking Dead Cashgrab from 2013 called The Walking Dead Survival Instinct it was fps ''survival horror'' game where you play as Daryl Dixon the game was so ass in every aspect buggy repetitive but i still love it because i was fascinated about zombie games and i tried to get the 100% of the game getting all the unlockable cheats
I really doubt that this game is ''canon'' in the TV series

It really cant be that hard to make games set in the walking dead universe, I feel like a lot of them limit themselves by trying to piggy back off the show’s timeline unsuccessfully.

Now thats a meme I haven’t heard about in a long while…

I love Resident Evil: Revelations 2. It's an awkward and self conscious experience that wants the chilling suspense of the early series and the bombast and flash of the middle era. It's awkward and unsure of what it is or even what Resident Evil is, but damn it all so I love it. I played it years after launch and while it was on a deep sale. The story was a mess but in a popcorn munching enjoyable way. Gameplay was solid and punchy, with a welcome flair for customization, while still withholding resources for tension. I loved Moira Burton and her growth from a frustrated teenager into a strong young woman, with the worst one liners of all time.

But the thing that REALLY keeps me coming back for more is the Raid mode. I love tinkering with the stats of the guns to make wretched and broken monstrosities. Shotguns that fire seven pellets the size of grapefruits all at once, AR's with 3000 round mags, magnums with homing fire ammo, pistols that would stun a freight train. All of these stats and tools make me chortle as I stack buff after buff and upgrade after upgrade. Then there's the lovely synth beats that get the heart pumping as monsters from the series swarm you. Fun character selections including series vets like Chris, Jill, Leon, and Wesker. And fun cheesecake costumes for the leading ladies Claire and Moira. I come back to Raid mode almost daily for a short round or two.

I love sonic adventure 1, super mario sunshine, and mischief makers
they're not really that bad of games but they're on most people's shit lists and I enjoy them because of their unpolished/unrealized nature
those games just feel good to move around in even if the levels aren't that good, you kind of make your own fun by finding ways to abuse the mechanics and squeeze tech out of every little last aspect of the gameplay

I guess Alone in the Dark 2 should fit description. Game is worse than its predecessor, but way better than its sequel. Most people online completely discard both AitD sequels, but i personally liked second game, although mostly for unusual story ( undead pirates turn undead mafia during prohibition ) and presentation. Secondary protagonist is a little girl ( which is by itself unusual ) and she saves main protagonist and defeats secondary antagonist. End segment of the game is also very atmospheric. After protagonist defeats undead on the solid ground, they resurrect on their ship ( as per their contract with dark powers ) and when you finally arrive on ship, you see that those bloodthirsty undead mafioso pirates are just... humans, they drink and dance, play musical instruments, in other words do exactly what any normal people do. And than you kill them all again. This time forever. End boss battle is also fun and sorta... cinematographic i guess ( at least, as much as early 3D adventure with prerendered backgrounds can be called such ). I the end, when captain realizes that he already lost, he just sorta gives up and lets Carnby and girl flee. Most of bad guys in such stories try hold on till the end, seeing an objectively evil man acting at least somewhat honorable was refreshing.

Simple and repetitive as it is, I will never not love this game

That's 'cuz Raid Mode totally r00Lz 🤜💥🤛

Gonna be a weird one but for some reason I really like Aerobiz and Uncharted Waters (more so the originals than the sequels). They're not exactly amazing by any standard and can kinda drag on into a bit of an overall lull as you get further along. But I kinda just like the overall gameplay loop. Weirdly easy going despite being kinda overwhelming as the games scale outwards over time.

Also, Prototype. Didn't play the second one but I think I have heard that first game referred to as "The 10/10 7/10 game" (I think it was the Youtuber NakeyJakey).

My hot take on this one is that despite some pretty major flaws even in its time, it's is extremely underrated aesthetically. The overall atmosphere is akin to what Silent Hill 1 did with its own (despite being very different from each other). And much like every other Castlevania game, the music is pretty goddamn good as well.

Oh I really like that game too, even got a platinum trophy on PS4. Its a shame they completely dropped Natalia's/Alex's plot line, because there are some cool existential elements to be explored that go deeper than "I just want world domination" every other RE villian seems to go for.

Silent Hill Origins was a fun time, even though it makes you a battering ram, removing all tension from the game.

The Getaway had some really strange level design choices and kind of lacklustre combat, but I still thought it was pretty damn good

There was a "build your own fighter" game for GBA called "Fight box", based on a short-lived early CGI TV show. The game was exceptionally mid, but I still had got a fair few hours of entertainment out of it. Same deal with the Ace Lightning game.

That's my favourite Resident Evil! I spent way too long in Raid Mode. I remember maxing out the Katana skill for Wesker, which took so much grinding. It was so worth it!

I'd say Origins has the best vocal track in Silent Hill, or at least my favourite. "Shot Down in Flames"

This might be an unpopular bad game even amongst bad games; but I had nothing but a good time with Balan!

I mean, I bought it twice. Granted, I only spent $10 total on it but there is some good stuff there. Plus, the ticket you get in the physical version is really cool!

Hmm I do like such games that I love so much for some of them I'm surprised they are not really the talk of the town:

I like this series but especially this game that you have a game with high customisation options to adjust even the background image of fights, what your character says before the fight start and whatnot and select kick-ass music as background music. What I really like is you can completely select all the fighting move for the character you customize which I do think it should be a common feature in every fighting game already. The game has really kick-ass moves to select and thus create your own combo.

The game is really not what most people would like but the game is fun and using its theme well enough for me.

The game can be found around as "one of the worst RPG in history" but IDK I like the vibe of the game. It is like early version of Mass Effect that you can walk around and talk to people, I kinda like the dialogue options in the game that is not "legendary" per se.

The game would be completely rubbish if it didn't have real-time physics and destroying the environment. Sometimes I play this game just to throw people off a window by smashing the window and watch the window's glass being broken and the dude falling lolol.

I like the way there is a "shut up" button to the shut up your co-pilot, I even developed a "SAMIR You will break the car" mod for this game that swapping the voice lines of your co-pilot with this meme guy lolol.

And lastly who would have thought the cancelled PS2 Duke Nukem would be my favorite Duke Nukem!!!! Good thing it is leaked so I can play it whenever I want lolol:

Akiba's Trip, maybe?
I get the impression people would write it off as some sort of lowbrow, anime game with waifus... I mean, yeah, that's part of it, but it is pretty tongue-in-cheek about it. It's never taking itself very seriously

There's also some really cool stuff like how it lets you unlock and swap around character models and character animations in New Game+

Also Ratchet Deadlocked/Gladiator:
This game is so much fun and so easy to get lost in just doing repeat playthroughs to max out some insanely fun weapons. After a point, you can run through the story in like an hour and it is really satisfying being able to kill bosses before they even enter the battle arena! It's not the best Ratchet & Clank game based on story, but I find it the easiest to pick up & play!

I love the Metal Max series, in particular Metal Saga on the ps2. I love most of the Digimon games that exist, particularly cyber sleuth. lately i've been playing a lot of Exoprimal with some friends, such a solid 5/10 that i'm not sure why it didn't do better.

mediocrity is sometimes more interesting than unambiguous success, one of many reasons that i think the ps2 is the greatest console ever made.

If somebody has Mischief Makers in a shit list that person literally knows nothing about good videogames or it is an unexperienced teenager with shitty likes.

As a mediocre game I would say Neptune saga. But I really love them, it's full of anime waifus and their designs are very cute.

Hard Edge would be another example. The game is very odd and controls are clumsy, but it has some magic I love.

Robot Alchemic Drive on PS2. I don't know if any other game has that specific flavour of remote controlled robot that it has, other than the developer's previous game 'Remote Controlled Dandy'. It actually feels like how you'd control a giant robot with a PS2 controller. I also like that you're defending the same city over the course of the game. I wish it had persistent damage and the effects of you failing to protect it were more emphasized but otherwise it's such a good game and I find the bad dub really funny.
