don't lock my topic you coward babies. post it right on the front page that the admins of CD Romance are more than okay with flooding the scene with absolutely useless slop because you don't care. you frame this as a me problem and say i should just ignore AI translations and not download them if i don't like them, but if you're as into the apparent sanctity of gaming as a hobby as you claim this shit would horrify you too.

learn some fucking japanese, it isn't even hard, use your fucking brain

As some one that did study Japanese for 4 years it is not easy if it was every would be speaking it heck if it was that easy the amount of nerd that would learn it would make the language the most spoken language in the world. Secondly they use Machine translation in most translated games.

There is a huge difference between AI-assisted and machine translation.

Machine: This is the classic approach in machine supported translation technology. It's based on fixed algorithms and rules for converting text from one language to another. It's fast and efficient, particularly for straightforward or standardised text translations, but it tends to fall short in grasping the nuances and cultural context of language.

AI Translation: Enter the advanced contender – AI translation. This method employs cutting-edge machine learning and neural network techniques. It doesn’t just translate words; it aims to understand and convey the essence and nuances of the original language. AI translation adapts and improves over time, gaining proficiency in handling idiomatic expressions and specialized terminology. It’s particularly effective for translations where context, tone, and cultural relevance are key.

if you spent half your time writing something positive as opposed to all that negative crap you just wrote youd save time and energy. You come across like you've a god complex.

Personally, I don’t give a fuck about a lot of the content posted on the site (like these actually shitty AI translations). What I do care about is preserving as much content as possible for posterity, and CDRomance has done a damn good job at that.

Besides that, some people simply just don’t care. We used to play entire JRPGs like Final Fantasy, Chrono, and Tales completely in Japanese back in the 90s/2000s without knowing the language (or sometimes even English), and we still had fun with them.

So in this case, you’re the one acting like a crying baby because people are archiving and making available stuff you personally don’t like.

Holy insecurity, Batman!

you frame this as a me problem and say i should just ignore AI translations and not download them if i don't like them
But it is your problem and you just said the solution

if you're as into the apparent sanctity of gaming as a hobby as you claim this shit would horrify you too.
Nobody dislikes AI translations because of "sanctity of gaming", people dislike them because most of them are shit and litteral with no context.

What the fuck is this thread even about

i am a crying r****d baby it's true and even i learned japanese.

this thread exists because i asked if they could stop posting shitass AI translations on the repo and they locked it.

"Here's a game that was published once on a discontinued console. It might never get a re-release, a remake, or an official localization." Given these circumstances, I'll settle for a mediocre translation.

i will take a weird rushed human touched Ted Woolsey style translation every single fucking time before i read any AI shit. if you can't understand the difference between feeding a script into a machine and taking it's word for it vs interacting with it yourself you fundamentally don't understand storytelling or narratives and should not be anywhere near a translation

Nobody is disagreeing with you about the quality. But the stuff is there for whoever wants it, simple as that. That’s how this works.

Unless you’re secretly a CDRomance shareholder, things are probably going to stay that way.

And you’re just acting like a spoiled crying baby at this point, and everyone replying to you is basically treating you like a toddler throwing a tantrum.

What a weird state of mind, to be unable to just ignore stuff that you don't want, but others appreciate ::cirnoshrug

And what's worse, to want it destroyed so people who want it, can't have it!

yeah the fan translation scene getting fucking flooded with 0 effort slop is
People here already gave you sounding advice. But spouting the same responses without acknowledging the posts. Speaks volumes of your lack of knowledge. Enjoy the ban!

I met some social justice warriors that would agree with you
