I was worried I'd regret not making the reference clearer, given that it's an olden meme circa 1983 and from the hardcore punk scene at that. I forgot that Limp Bizkit did a cover (or at least used the famous lyric in some song), too, so now I regret it more. Anyways, it's a lyric from "Instutionalized" by Suicidal Tendencies. Limp Bizkit was just copying the meme as they did with other memeable lyrics.

Seeing the song "How I Could Just Kill a Man" be mentioned awoke something inside me like a CIA sleeper agent lmao

Like I said, that line was already a meme long before the internet was a thing. And ST was one of the precursors to the rock/hip-hop crossover that came later on, so not only was the meme spreading in the punk scene, but also other underground scenes, even including some parts of the hip-hop scene.

(And before anyone tries to correct me, yes, Blondie briefly dabbled in hip-hop back in the 70s, but it wasn't crossover in the sense that later bands were. That was another precursor. Same goes for the Aerosmith/Run DMC collaboration, which didn't fully integrate the styles like later bands.)

Lemme pick your brain for a second if that's cool, who do you consider some of the first ever rap/rock acts?

I'd go with the Beastie Boys (originally a punk band before switching to crossover), Faith No More (which mixed it with funk rock), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (also a funk rock band). And anything from Judgement Night counts even if they were just temporary.

Also, Anthrax and Public Enemy collabed at times and did some legit crossover when they did.

And just to clarify why I'm no counting the previously mentioned bands, Blondie did only one song with a single rap section, Run DMC/Aerosmith's collab was just one song which jumped back and forth between styles, and ST were not really rapping but doing spoken word style lyrics side by side with sung lyrics. So they are precursors to the true crossover bands that came later.

I've actually never had an ice cream float! So I wouldn't know if it's any good, but I doubt Diet Pepsi would taste good with ice cream.

Previously my mind just went straight to the obvious Rage Against the Machine and maybe Bodycount, but I think of them as more straight metal really.

Completely forgot about their Cookie Puss/Egg Raid On Mojo etc era! All I kept thinking of before was their rock stuff on Check Your Head onwards.

Love the Judgment Night soundtrack - pity it was such a mediocre film - so disappointed

Beyond Bring the Noise - what else have they done together? Searches only seem to mention that and their tours - I'm really intrigued!
