I was born in '81 and I remember frequently having to upgrade everything.
Cassettes -> CDs
CDs -> MP3s
VHS -> DVD
DVD -> Blu Ray

Plus now I sound like an old man when I complain that cars need physical knobs and dials. Why does everything have to be a screen?

Well, to be fair, high tech folks had a bit of a panicked rush to change the time formatting so important computers didn't overflow and ruin scheduling in a way that it would lead to loss of life. 64 as opposed to 32 bit if I recall.

Oh, that does sound like a big deal, but (just in context to where I was at) I was 8 years old entering the year 2000.

I still have my Canon mini DV camera that I purchased for $2,000 back in 2004. Now you can get a camera for less that $100 that can shoot far better video.
