Artists are leaving Spotify in droves

I don't think small artists leaving are really going to have any impact on Spotify... the backlash to their planned mandatory identification policy will though. I cannot forsee that going over well.

See, this shit will fly like a lead balloon filled with sulfur hexafluoride.
People will nope out of this BS. Sure, it'll go on for a bit, but as soon as profits start dropping because people get a set of balls and tell them to fuck off for this and everything else.
This BS will stop. Watch and see.

Now, I understand for adult websites like Pornhub, hey you wanna be a pervert? Show your face.
But for just music and the like, nah, that's not gonna fly long.

"Xiu Xiu, Deerhoof, and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard"
I have no idea who these artists are (Sound like names a 8 year old would use in a MMORPG honestly) Not the point. I don't subscribe to or pay anyone. Let's say I acquire my music and media in ways that may or may not sidestep the full definition of "legal"
xiu xiu is my favourite band of all time :( i have their logo tattooed im mentally unwell

Don't feel bad. I have an old school Decepticon tattoo.
It's just a generation gap, that's all. I'm most likely older than you.

theyve been making music for 25 years, they just happen to be very experimental, and therefore mostly just known in the underground

This is why i can't hear "Anytime" by Eve 6 on Spotify?? Bruh . . .

In other words: "Billionaire finds a new way to make more money".

Because I really doubt it that the CEO of Spotify have a side or even cares about any war happening on the planet Earth.
His only intention is to get more green papers!

Kinda weird but I never really got into music streaming. Just figured if I ever wanted to listen to any specific artists I just download their stuff via less than legit methods.

Most of the stuff I listen to is older back catalogs that I'm guessing artists have made most of the money they'll make off it anyway so I don't feel too bad about it when I sail the seas. Hell, the most amount of music I've got recently were basically just tracker tunes from pre-6th gen console games.

Nonetheless, considering how incredibly shitty Spotify is to musicians, it's unsurprising the guy running it would have no issue investing into something designed to rack up body counts. To say least, the logic does at least follow if nothing else.

Hard to get mad at what's already assumed/expected at this point.

I'm in the process of removing all my music from spotify, and it's been long overdue. I'm just a hobbyist, but I went from making anywhere from $50-$300 a month to $40 every 3 months because of how greedy the CEO is. Bandcamp and Itunes pay me WAY more.
