Articles Guidelines

It's just Xenforo weirdness, after you publish the article that bar will have all of your attached images listed, but selecting them still doesn't do anything.

Just make sure the first image you post is the one you want to be the Cover, it defaults to that.

when trying to set the article cover image it says none, what did i do wrong?
Nothing.

It's a bit bugged.

I personally fix it by switching back-and-forth between mobile and desktop view until it shows the appropriate image.

Another trick is to headline your article with the image you want as cover. It'll automatically select it 👍❗

Does that do anything for articles? I think it's meant for reviews to display the game cover in the sidebar?
As they said it might populate after population, some JavaScript error :s

Can you elaborate a little more @Waffles ? And is that what causes the dropdown field to populate with an attachment selection instead of just "none" for you?

Or has anyone found another work around since? Is that field meant for game covers for reviews? I know this thread is for articles, but I am doing reviews and I encountered the same question, and found this thread. I want to make sure the game cover is on the side. Does making the game cover the first attachment (not inserted into body) and then the article cover the first image inserted into the article body accomplish that?

Hi! I'd love to help you out, man... But it's really that dumb: I just kept switching back-and-forth until it showed the image I wanted within the menu/field. It's really not ideal.

"Article Cover Image" is the box art that shows up on the side but, again, it doesn't really matter what order you post it in as long as you get the menu to recognize it and let you select it. The review WILL take the first image you upload as the head image for the review, however, so pick a nice one.

I hope this helped even a little bit ^^U!

I would write a Article if I was not to lazy and creatively dead about
End Roll a niche hidden gem
Tales of Berseria a daring and great tales game (If not already done)
Spyro Reignited trillogy how a Sequel catched the Spirit of the Original from our Childhood
Anybody interested in writing any of this Articles feel free to do so.

::thank-youOk, I'll play with it. Just wanted to make sure that field is for the box art. I'll play with it and hopefully get it to work >_<

Thanks for confirmation on that too. I want to photoshop something fun for the head image for each review ^_^ and wanted to make sure that would show up.

Thanks so much for the help @Waffles but I couldn't get that field to populate at all on desktop while writing ::sadkirby

What worked for me was to edit AFTER publishing. Kind of strange as you are able to embed those attached images, so they are uploaded, but for some reason this field ignores them while writing... Anyway, the article cover image field will now be populated.

Hope that helps other reviewers that had the same confusion I did ^_^

Yeah that’s what I do too. It usually takes a bit of time for things to load.

Diapered = Padded Knight. I see what you did there, lol.

This might be a little bit stupid, but is there a limit as to what games you can post about?

Like, the site is called RetroGameTalk, so initially I assumed that the main subject of articles was retro games. And yet, I sometimes see articles of games that aren't retro. Now, I'm not opposed to them (in fact, I did publish a review about Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate on the Switch, which isn't exactly retro). So, I guess my question is that if it's fine to post games that fall into that category (for example, Everhood, which is from 2019)

I'm pretty sure spike said somewhere (or another mod did?), that any games can be reviewed. So you are good.

Well, you try fighting for hours in a full suit of armor you can't remove yourself easily without help, while drinking lots of water to prevent dehydration :loldog I also thought it was funny as it is close to the "paladin knight" title >_>

Maybe there is some truth to it, never thought about it really. They didn't have a zip they could pull down, lol. I'm sure most knights must have tried to empty themselves as much as possible before they got into metal armour. Maybe, leather armour and the likes had other options. Maybe, the whole metal armour thing was just decoration and not used on the field of battle. Funny one, that.
