Here's the thing, I want to, but I probably won't unless I see some news about either a price decrease to games or NSO getting some insane update akin to XBox Game Pass for it to be even slightly worth it.
The deal breaker is undeniably the game prices. I said this in a different thread, but Switch being "underpowered" is it's strongest point, it makes the console relatively affordable (yes, $450 after a $300 console isn't actually that far of a prince increase, sadly that $50 in that 450 are probably for that shitty ass camera that no one will use but hey, there's always gotta be some trash gimmick like this that drives up the price for no reason.)
Switch is the only console worth buying. There, I said it. Go ahead, call me a shill call me a paid actor but the PS5 has no games, Series S/X is just a cheap PC and there's nothing else on the market. Now what happens when the Switch, the only affordable console and the only console with exclusives prices those exclusives at a king's ransom? It starts not being worth it. So now the only thing worth buying is a PC and a PS5 controller to pair with it. The only reason I see someone unironically wasting money on a PS5 is if they've been on PS4 their entire life before and they want to transfer everything they've got onto the PS5. It was never about hardware, if it was we'd all be buying PCs. Its about the fact the Switch is portable and has good exclusives and is again, affordable and its other biggest strong point being that its the family console. Something for everyone, even my grandma.
So where does this leave us? The games are overpriced, they'll have overpriced DLCs, the physical copies do not come with the game but install the game onto your system, NSO is still a pile of overpriced worthless garbage even with GameCube, it cost $20 per game to upgrade from Switch to Switch 2 edition, which even then with what they showed with BoTW makes pretty much no difference other than an FPS increase (I straight up do not care about "muh graphics" anymore, especially not when its a visually distinct and stylised game like BoTW. I never liked those shaders people used on Cemu, looked like every other slop triple A title with them. But that's just a me thing anyway)
It having a dedicated cooler in the dock and it being able to push out 120FPS at 4K while docked is great news. Again, everything about the console is great, the price, the (assuming) quality, the look, the library. Its all great. But the game prices, the fact you don't even own your games physically even if you buy them physically, the NSO, the software (hopefully it won't be the same as Switch 1, but if it is that's a whole different beast we have to talk about). Its all bad.
Its such a mixed bag, but as things stand now I won't be buying it. Sorry for the long rant and sorry if I've offended anyone with my PS5 comments since every time I tell someone they bought a useless overprieced piece of garbage with no games on it they get mad. God bless emulation and God bless retro consoles and handhelds, I'll be on my PSP and DS still even after 10 years of the Switch 2's release, while I'm already ready to abandon my Switch. Should tell you enough.
