I never understood the hate ARF gets. Great music. Great graphics for the Wii. Great characters & design. Fantastic story. Great game world (that mimics another great game, Tales of Vesperia, in many ways. Engaging (and sometimes difficult) battle & battle mechanics that keeps developing over the course of the game (with new elements being included up to 70% of the way into the total game). The voice acting is hit-or-miss, but largely grows on the player and becomes a significant part of the characters' personality. Controls like a dream. Weapons with Tetris-like power nodes you can upgrade to unlock then redistribute to other/better weapons.

About the only bad thing I can say about the game is that the costumes you earn for the Tales-like skits don't have models for overworld/battles - especially the bikinis! While all this is my personal opinion, it is one I stand by.

This game was a blast! English dub was fun, my girlfriend (now wife) hated when I played this game late at night. All she would hear was " Cecille the brave leads the charge!". Drove her nuts LOL

The way this has me hollering lmaooo. My best friends wife did the same when i would come over and play infinite undiscovery cause the main character would yell the same line when i needed another party member to use an item .

Loved this game but hate the dub in it and i HATE all undubbed projects but this game needs it so bad that i would say i love undub but for for this game only. Since the voice actors are just reading a script and not adding any emotion what so ever so looking forward to trying it undubbed.

Isnt undub just when they take the jap audio and put in a english rom or vice versa? Or has that changed? Undub has made it so i can play these unbearable games cause they didnt even try when they recorded these lines for this game

Listen man, everyone's allowed to have their own opinion and diversity is what makes the world beautiful, etc. etc. but if we're discussing our favorite type of milk, someone says "Oh I like skim", or "Whole milk for me", and your stance is "DOG MILK IS BETTER" people are gonna give you funny looks and it's not their fault.

What's interesting is, I started off my apparently controversial statement with "To me," which implies that I'm not intending to trample over anyone else's opinion. But as this is the internet and this community seems to be very young and particularly sensitive, people somehow took offense to it. I don't care how it's perceived because I don't concern myself with how others view my thoughts. I didn't make a definitive or objective statement that somehow locks every other RPG on the Wii under it indefinitely by saying that I enjoy it more than other games, but I appreciate everyone assigning that much importance to my saying that I prefer something more than something else. Apparently, you can have power around here without making 10,000 comments and having a fancy animated profile picture.

To me, it's the best RPG on the Wii by a landslide. It has a paint-by-numbers story and the voice acting is hilariously bad, but the rest of the systems and mechanics are more than solid. I've actually grown to love the awful delivery of some lines. It takes what's just a generic anime plot and turns it into an unintentional comedy. Does the undub have equally awful voice work or was that just a treat for westerners?

Haha this is a funny take I rock with it; dont agree obviously but can still empathize. I remember hating this dub so much that yeah when the undub came, I got that instead but after a while....I kinda missed the awful dub lmao so I went back and got the original lol.
Also I had the physical game of this at one point because for some odd reason on my modded Wii, about halfway through the game I got stuck; the game would just crash.
Problem is, the physical disc at the time would ask me to update my Wii which obviously I couldnt do because it was modded...

Or what I like to call it, dollar store Tales of without real time combat, still an enjoyable game, not bad, not great, the Japanese voices actually improves the experience a lot

It does but at the same time for some odd reason, the dub had its own wacky charm to it.
If one were to play the game I'd say do two playthroughs

i played the game as a kid, though it was pretty depressing story. hated it. loved tales until until xilia to berseria had their lame to depressing downer endings. thank god tales of arise saved the series with such a utterly fantastic ending.

Pretty fun JRPG if you like turn-based stuff, after a point every boss fight becomes you trying to stabilize your ass while looking for a opening to actually do damage during.

There are these crazy things called opinions. The Operation Rainfall titles are good, but ridiculously overhyped. People tend to be more obsessed with the energy surrounding those titles than what they actually provide. Arc Rise Fantasia takes stale JRPG systems and dramatically improves them, and then adds horrific voice work as a bonus.

I'm just not one of those who is convinced that British VA is synonymous with quality.

idk man playing it back in the day, the game is so mid the shitty dub enhanced the experience for me because it made the story scenes funny. Undubbing it would just make it a generic jrpg of the time.

This is my favorite Wii game, and IMO, one of the most underrated RPGs ever. Yeah, the voice work was less than desirable to put it mildly, but the combat was great. You could even win the "fixed fights" you were meant to lose and slightly change the story and get some new summons. It's a shame it didn't get a better localization.

I played this game long enough to turn it off when they started talking
