Anyone have a recommendation?

I played through Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, and Final Fight so far. Beat em Ups are kinda my thing right now. I'm planning on going through the Ninja Turtles stuff too. I also really like platformers and old JRPG's. just not so well versed on those yet.
How old re: JRPGs?

I would be remiss not to mention "Cyber Citizen Shockman Zero" (Kaizou Choujin Shubibinman Zero) for the Snes. It's an action/beat em up made for the Satellaview. It's a blast.

Try Spider-Man & Venom: Maximum Carnage for either system.
That game is straight fire. I went through both that and Separation Anxiety last year. Maximum Carnage is better though for sure.

@Skeetos if you don’t mind a ps2 rec, I’ll add Ultimate Spider-Man to the mix.

Beat this twice as a kid. One of the better Spiderman Games.

I would check out some homebrews like the Kai Magazine offerings or the Asteborg series. Personally, I’ve been scoping out a lot of translated software since my retro game playtime has been inspired by GCCX or Dungeon Chill as of late.
That sounds interesting. I love checking out random homebrews so I'll definitely have to check these out.

On the beat em up side if You don't mind playing a newer game I recomend the River city girls games (the first is originally from Super famicom)View attachment 3076
Seconded.
Also, the Double Dragon DLC for RVCG2 just came out.
This might be a good time mention the wacky guilty gear RCG crossover 😂View attachment 3078
I love the River City/Kunio-Kun series. Super Dodgeball was a big favorite of mine as a kid. I have yet to beat River City Girls 1 and I saw the new DLC. I have to pick it up one of these days when I get some extra change. I love Wayforward's stuff though so I always get their games.

Try Blackthorn, It is a side scrolling action platformer, The action involves you ducking behind cover to avoid enemy fire, There are also npc's that you need too talk to to get keys and bombs to blast doors. It is a very fun game
That sounds dope. Thanks everyone for the recommendations. I got a better backlog now once I finish out Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy for like the 200th time.

Have you played the Kunio soccer game with special moves à la Captain Tsubasa ?
Yeah, that one was super fun as well. Those games are just very well made and have really cool art direction. I think those games are the main reason I got so deep into Yakuza recently. Those games just feel like Advanced River City Rampage.

Yes they absolutely are IMO.

The concept and the tone feel so much like Kunio.

If you want combat, i'd suggest Odin Sphere. Beautiful game, complex deep lore and story.

If you want a good RPG, can't go wrong with Chrono Trigger (followed by Flames of Eternity)

More exploration and platforming and less combat, Fez isn't bad to try.

If you want rogue-like and combat that's faster than a strategy game (and is funny), ZHP - Unlosing Ranger vs Darkdeath Evil Man!

I've finished Fez and played Chrono Trigger but never go through it. This psp game here looks cool. I like the box art. I'll have to check a look.
