Anyone ever use the netplay feature of an emulator?

Doing N64 netplay on Kaillera way back in like 2012 is how I met my very first online friend group at an age where I probably shouldn't have been interacting with strangers online...
Besides that and dabbling in SNES netplay around the same time as well, I have done Dolphin netplay stuff with people from my current friend group multiple times a couple of years back.

Why don't you start a thread for it?
I think it would require a board of its own. RetroNetplay or preferrably

Would you be interested in the abovementioned idea?

Not everything needs it's own sub board. I don't see why a thread wouldn't work for that. Why would you need a bunch of threads that are all basically going to be 'hey who wants to play 'x' game with me?'

It would be more of a place for people to exchange discords and talk about the viability of different netplay options. It could even just be a general multiplayer board.

Sometimes me and my siblings play puyo puyo fever and Kirby on the gba with net play. The wlan is not available at the moment so we ended up playing with Bluetooth connection
Now this is the kinda dang ol' wholesome memory I was looking for man. Are you using modded GBAs or an emulator?

I'm always up for some good old arcade co-op
Me too, but which game? It'd be great to have a board to post threads for different games in which people could search for partners and make new friends!

Admittedly, the only reason why I don't use the built in Netplay feature of Dolphin and just opt to use Parsec instead is because, from what I've gathered, it doesn't support RVZ files.
You haven't used dolphin in a long time then. It's has RVZ support since at least 2015

I remember one time getting Goldeneye 64 to work with a friend, but it was local WLAN. I see all these emulators with the feature, but I wonder... where do people wanting to play together meet up?
tell y'what man i played dang ol' dolphin emulator man an' tha netplay feature tried it once and played that dang ol' Super Smash Bros Melee an like did that ol' DR. MARIO, man.

I actually used it a lot back when my friends were based and actually played something that was not league:3 my favorite play sessions were the mario party ones we had in mupen 64 :3

That still doesn't explain why you can't just make a thread. There's no reason that can't just be a single thread. There doesn't need to be a bunch of separate threads for that. I have no idea why everyone on this forum wants suboards for everything it's ridiculous.

You think you'll have to scroll past the entire board to get anywhere? I get it. You don't like my idea but at least come up with a cogent argument. You're coming off as a troll.

Edit: here's a mockup I made for you

No, it's more like there'll be a bunch of threads with like a handful of posts in them. I've been on forums where they have dozens of subforums and I've been on forums where they generally try to keep things organized by thread unless something is popular enough to warrant a subforum. The latter style forums are far more pleasant to use. The idea of a forum is to create threads about topics. If there's enough vaguely related topics, you create a subforum to group them together. Continuously starting threads for the exact same thing except the game is different is inefficient. I would definitely prefer scrolling through a single thread related to netplay where anyone can post their whatever for any game. Yes, one click is preferable to dozens of clicks. That's basic UX stuff. Clicking into a bunch of different threads for essentially the same thing is a worse user experience than reading a single thread.

What I meant is that nkit and RVZ files are incompatible with Dolphin's built-in netplay.

If you want to play retro games online with other people, you should start searching for discord servers, everything is there.
For example, this server is for PCSX2
well that's not very personal. wouldn't you have more fun playing with people you have a deeper connection with?

I don't think that's true either.

Beware: There have been no replies in this thread for 90 days.
Keep that in mind when expecting a reply from the people on it,
You can also start a new thread instead. This is just a heads-up, bumping is allowed in this forum.
