Just wondering if anyone on here plays/has played an instrument? Personally, I've been playing piano for decades now. I also can do a bit of drums/percussion since I played throughout middle and high school. I've met some people who, while you would never expect it, can tear it up on certain instruments! So, do you play? And if so, what do you play?

Percussion is what I played most, pretty much every single instrument in Latin Percussion. I preferred playing congas and timbales.

I don't play anymore, but I do tend to start playing with my hands on any surface I find when I hear a song I like.

I used to play guitar, but sadly didn't keep up with it.

It kinda hurts because that's what I spent my first money on and the spark just didn't ignite U.U!
I do remember when I was younger not wanting to go to piano lessons all the time and wanting to quit... So glad my parents got me to stick with it!

Learning to play it as an adult is challenging, but not impossible. It doesn’t hurt to try..like all string instruments, it’s very rewarding.

I have never been in a band of any kind unless you count 3d grade choir.
I play piano and guitar, though I have not played piano or guitar seriously for a few years.

I have been getting back into it recently. At some point quite a few years ago I could shred on the guitar, and I am slowly trying to get back to that point. I have a nice violin I got back in 2011 after doing loads of research and reading Leopold Mozart's violin book. Quite a few years ago I used to practice violin every day (mostly first position stuff), now I am thinking of getting back into it.

I am currently doing research on violin setup, as I find it to be something a musician should be able to do. Aside from that I have played the baroque recorder (alto and soprano, mostly rounds and easier baroque pieces).

@NeonKnights Baroque music is a great way to get started with instruments. In particular, the works of Bach senior, Corelli, F. Couperin, and Frescobaldi are among my favorites. What do you listen to and play, aside from L. Mozart?

I mostly practice playing BWV 565 on piano (Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor) it's quite the challenging piece, and I am not able to practice the bass section. Albinoni's Adagio is another one of my favorites, even if it's attribution is spurious. As an aside I have been listening to classical music for many years, even going to quite a few of the early music concerts in and around Seattle. My favorites are Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, De Saint-Georges, Dowland, Buxtehude, Boccherini, Scarlatti, Lawes, Telemann and Gesualdo among many others. Les Barricades Mystérieuses is a favorite as well.

Of course and it's ABSOLUTELY wild, do you know how to port Midi to any particular systems/consoles?
It's different depending on the console and the game...
There are romhacking tools for this purpose... but my info about it is pretty much outdated! 😎
Some consoles have more generic formats with good tools... for example, for GBA games, i used to use Sappy, which can support most of GBA games.

Do you use LSDJ still for the DMG-01 or is there something newer for the original GameBoy?

Nice, I've zero knowledge on the GBA specifications in regards of music composition, tbh... Might give it a look just for funsies! That's super cool regardless of the amount of knowledge or practice you still got, man! Some systems are a pain in the ass when it comes either to porting or creating original music cus the tools and licensing for it were once available as standalone proprietary shit lost in time and context (obviously). Even when there's stuff to replace it (released within the romhacking scene), some might work erratically still. It's a whole skill inside another skill to master.

Guitar since I was young but also some keyboard and bass. Though most of the any kind of actual music I've made was made with midi sequencers. I did meet a group if people on Craigslist I jammed with for a while playing reggae songs but the ad eventually expired and nobody had ever thought to exchange real contact information, we'd all just been using the craiglist ad to communicate, so suddenly everybody just vanished and it kind of stopped abruptly. Though, the person who'd arranged it did have some kind of health issue so maybe something happened with that. I dunno. They all just disappeared one day.

I play several: banjo, guitar, drums, piano, bass, and a little mandolin. The past few years I have been doing custom orders on the banjo, where others can request a song and I will slow it down and figure out the song for them.
