The game is great, but the co-op experience is unfortunately lacking, especially when playing with friends. The main issue is that
progression isn’t truly shared. You can complete some quests and objectives together, but since you’re essentially joining your friend’s world, most progression only counts for them. For example, you can’t interact with many NPCs while in someone else’s world.
Another frustration is that
world unlocks don’t carry over. If your friend activates something on the map, like a fast-travel/teleport point, it doesn’t activate for you. You’ll need to go back to your own world and unlock it separately. This is the biggest downside to co-op.
If the developers added
fully shared progression so that all unlocks and milestones counted for every player, the game would be incredible. As a solo experience, I’d still recommend it. But since I mainly play in a group, it’s hard to recommend spending time on it until co-op is more fully developed.
