Any Demo Disc Fans?

This interactive Volume 6 demo disc what introduced me to the world of Playstation for the first time back in the year late 1998, the disc was included inside the box of the brand new Playstation my mom bought me for my birthday, I still have it in my possession 27 years later and it's still in great working condition, me and my childhood friends usually play it every morning before going to school even though the Bloody Roar game only has 2 selectable characters and the rest of the games only has one stage to play we still have a lot of fun with it till I bought a brand new game for the console 4 months later, speaking of Volume 6 this is also my 6th post! what a coincidence

I do love that demo discs had their own vibe, and in some instances had their exclusive content, like Christmas NiGHTS, Java Tea VF Kids, most PlayStation demo discs tend to be a super cool late 90s/early 2000s vibe which is fun. I also love that Tekkouki Mikazuki got a demo disc released before the game was cancelled so there's like, an actually playable public build of the game available.

Ya they were awesome. I remember buying PC gaming magazines, and they would have a game demo disc inside them. A lifetime ago, when I bought the original PS1 on launch, it came with a demo disc.

I can't now, for the life of me, remember what demos were on it. As far as I remember, it was the one I attached here. I think it was called "Demo One" and honestly, the only thing I remember about the disc was the night I got the system. I may or may not have smoked a bit of something with my then-girlfriend, and somehow accessed the Twisted Metal 2 teaser.

Again, we were kind of high, and it freaked us out, to put it nicely.
But yeah, demo discs were an awesome thing, and I too miss them.

Yeah the very first ps1 disc i have was demo disc the one with t rex 3d model
Remember looking at it with my dad and thinking the future is now!

Also remember many pc games had demos on their discks or something simple like publisher catalog or trailers, always was fun to look at

I have a huge stack of them since my dad used to collect them back in the day. This one will always be my favorite:

You should check archive sites and see if you have a disc they're missing - those things were rarely kept so it's hard to archive them.

I remember in my demo disc had a Crash Badicoot, Spyro, Tomb Raider Metal Gear Solid, Original Rugrats, Twisted Metal Bug's life and I don't remember the remaining 2.

Yeah demo discs were amazing
I had so many different ones but I loved the playstation underground discs the best.

The only I remember playing Final Fantasy VIII ultimania demo over and over before finally buying the game. I even used an action replay code to stop the demo time and play during hours.

I never had any, but I distinctly remember someone having a red one and treating it like it was the Holy Grail — wouldn't even play it.

I'm sure dumbass thought he had a rare gem or something lol.

I remember playing the one which had Brave Fencer Musashi on it, with 3 different scenarios on it (the first boss, the waterfall area, and one dungeon). Another one would be the FF VIII demo, where the main characters use their main outfits at Dollet mission, and with that one track that didn't make to the final version

Those were goated, and somehow that feels like a understatement. Some of the notable PS1 demo discs I had where the Summer '99 & 2000 editions of PSUG Jampack & the green Pizza Hut demo disc. Not only where the games great, but man, the main menu music for those demo discs cannot be topped.

Isn't that PSUG Volume 2.4? It also has the NFL Blitz demo as well.

Good times!

Indies devs should do something similar where they package demos of their games together in little executables with a menu etc.
Would that be efficient? No.
Would it be fun and a way to expose other fan-bases to new stuff, why certainty!

*Ages to a husk*

The only original PSX disk i had, one that had Brave Fencer Musashi and Metal Gear Solid demos, it was a purple disc with black underside, man i really wish i still had it

I got Demo One with my PS1 for Christmas 1996, I also still have the box to a demo but no disc unfortunately but I remember it had Tommy Makinen Rally on it that I got with the official Playstation Magazine that my mum bought me from WHSmith in 1997 in Liverpool when we went on the train for the day.

While this wasn't much of a thing for doujin games, it used to be very much a thing for western PC games. I have (somewhere) a demo disc that is from the days of Windows 3.1 that included, along with the usual assortment of shareware DOS games (some from companies that would become pretty big, like Epic Megagames), a bunch of games that could be played from within Windows itself using DirectX (shocking at the time), along with a chunk of 640x480 wallpapers and even shareware versions of utilities for Windows. Really interesting stuff, I'll try and dig it up out of my storage sometime.

I didn't have many, but the ones I did have definitely left an impact. Alfred Chicken from a McDonalds demo disc. Rosco McQueen from a magazine one I think. Great stuff.

Also that music.
