Anime based on video games

I decided to make a drastic change to my list:

Previously I excluded date simulator games (like Tokimeki Memorial) and trading card games/arcade games hybrids (like Mushiking). Now these kind of games are included at the list. Therefore if there are any games of that kind that are included on the list yet, let me know. Visual novels and multimedia franchises are still excluded from the list.

I watched the Viewtifull Joe anime series as a kid and never knew it was based on video games untill years later. I still never played the games but want to someday.

The first two games made by Clover are classics. The later ones are just ok but a rehash.

its all just advertisements honestly mid ones at that too case in point dmcs own anime.

O
Didn't the comic call them Overlander because Mobius is set in the far future where animals evolved while humans kinda became smaller with 4 fingers?

I'm a noob at Archie lore (especially when it rebooted twice) but I feel that Sega and the Sonic Team straight up rejecting the American lore of the franchise in Adventure created a schism in the fanbase.

I do like Japanese Sonic (especially with him being born on Christmas Island) but they could've kept Mobius as the planet's name and explained why there are humans.
oh I don't know, Archie lore is whatever Pender's thought up in his demented cranium. I like that the Japanese lore is purposefully vague.

Pender's stuff got retconed thanks to the Genesis Wave which rebooted the comic.

But I'll be honest that I dislike humans in Sonic because they feel out of place.

Sonic X telling it's an Isekai with the human world being a parallel dimension to Sonic's was a clever idea honestly.

... would've been cool if there was another part that covered the triangulum arc since it was part of the record breaker version of devil survivor 2

It's weird that they made a Devil Survivor 2 anime adaption without making one for Devil Survivor 1 as well.

I second that. Which is why I was never big fan of Sonic Adventure and Sonic X and which is why I don't intend to watch the live action movies (especially since they hired Jim Carrey from all people to play as Dr Eggman, a role that doesn't fit him at all but still they hired him anyway because of Hollywood nepotism).

It’s a fact that lots of popular video games (both Japanese and western ones) get anime adaptions. And since anime and video games are two of my favorite hobbies (after all, Japanese video games and anime shares lots of elements from each other) I made a list with anime based on video games since there isn't any good list of that kind.

i didnt see .hack series on here.... so sad lol

Wizardry got an Ova all the way back in 1991
It's only an hour long and basically just sets up every classic fantasy anime in a dungeon trope you can think of and speedruns what little story there is in the game. Adventurers go into a pit to beat up an evil wizard being a dick, simple is as simple does. Decently fun way to burn an hour with good animation.
+ the whole things on youtube rn

I was wondering about that too actually ! But I'm thinking with all the multiple endings the DS1 and it's Overclocked version had it probably was difficult to decide what was the best path they'd go with !

Also I kinda wonder to what extent the religious content was allowed if it were localized too

I actually preferred Devil Survivor 1 over 2 simply because I found it profounding how demons were being summoned through the power of how much hate is filled on the internet ... or something like that :O

I grew up on the Sonic OVA. I still think it's great.

Usually I hate English dub (especially at anime) but this scene is the only exception where I prefer the English dub over the Japanese audio:

But Jessus, what's the deal with the American cover? It looks like a bootleg product.
