Animal Crossing Fan Thread

Biskit the dog because he's mellow and I like that
Ribbot the frog because he talks about lifting and is unaware that he is a robot

I recently got the complete mobile animal crossing, because I like the idea of it just all being there with no paid DLC and whatnot, and it pulled my old save from years ago. My camp caretaker was Bob the cat, who was there with a little halo on. Like a month before that, I had a friend named Bob who passed away from cancer. So basically, Bob is never being changed out as my camp caretaker, I imagine it's my friend saying the fun things Bob says. :)

Was never that into AC but I had an ex that did and I'd frequently watch them play the game. I remember when Pietro first showed up they HATED him, but over time he wormed his way into our hearts.

I made a profile on the game just so I could show up on his birthday lol. He's just so adorable, confident and sassy that I can't help but love him. Plus Pietro is just a fun name to say!

Its the simple things in life, really.

I appreciate that the design prompt was: "make a character to remind the player to avoid resetting" and they made an atagonistic mole that berates you. They recognised that they couldn't really punish the player in some sort of mechanical way - so they opted to simply, sternly, tell you off.

I've been a fan of the Animal Crossing video games since the early 2000's, with the Nintendo GameCube Animal Crossing being the very first game in the series that I owned & played, which I really liked playing it back all of those years ago. I did of course reset my town a lot, mainly to see what all villagers there was and also due to wanting to try out different town names, which one was just simply called "Halloween", since I thought it would have added a lot of Halloween themed items to the town, but of course it sadly didn't do such a thing; though there of course in Animal Crossing: New Horizons the Halloween update in 2020, which added some fun Halloween themed items to craft & to place in my town.

I've played most of the Animal Crossing video games, other then Happy Home Designer on the Nintendo 3DS, Amiibo Festival on the Wii U & Pocket Camp. The most games in the series that I own is three, New Leaf on the 3DS, City Folk on the Wii & New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch. The games, to me, are pretty relaxing & very fun to play, as well as feeling satisfied when I finally have my in game house's mortgage paid off. Decorating my in game house has also been pretty fun to do with all of neat furniture in the games.

I do have a lot of favorite characters, which I do like the lazy villagers the most, specially what they say in New Horizons. I'm sure people on here have seen a few of my favorite villagers in that one forum about it on here.

Animal Crossing have one of the most cartoony yet iconic looking art style. Even though I haven't played this kind of games in awhile (the last time I did was the DS one), I've always loved how charming the character looks

It's probably my favorite series that Nintendo has. Pop in for 20 minutes or six hours, whatever the day allows/requires, and just mellow out. I've played them all a ton except whatever was on Wii and Wii U as I didn't have those consoles, currently am spending a bit of time each day on the AC for phones. It's nowhere near as robust of an experience, but it's still enjoyable in short bursts.
Favorite villagers are Biskit the dog, Bob the cat, and Ribbot the robot frog who doesn't seem to know he's a robot? Though, I met some robot octopus today and I'm not sure what that dude's deal is yet, they might also be cool.

I'm kinda bummed that I feel like I've "completed" everything I want to do in New Horizons now, but I don't know if I want to replay an older game either, and I definitely don't want to start over, I always regret that when I do.
I know City Folk is pretty chill to play on Dolphin with keyboard and mouse as a sort of computer game, but I struggle to imagine what I'd be doing in the game I guess lol.

I need to do Animal Crossing 64 translated.

Isn't that just the gamecube version with less features more or less?
Exactly, I want to experience the genesis of the franchise as much of a hassle it could be.

I got more nostalgia for the GC game. I don't hate the sequels but they're just not the same.

Fair enough! It's quite charming to play a game you thought was for one generation, when it actually plays just fine on another. I was blown away the first time I learned of the japanese N64 version.

Many franchises have their roots in japanese exclusives.

Magical Vacation (Magical Starsign's prequel on the GBA), the first Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime was also on the GBA under the title Slime Mori Mori, Tomodachi Life had a DS prequel and I think there was a tomato themed game by the devs of Mario & Luigi.
