On one hand, we have the game that learned from its past mistakes and generated a formula that would be repeated ad nauseam (until BotW broke free from those constraints).

On other hand, we have the game that revolutionized industry in technical and narrative aspects, as well as placing Zelda in the mainstream.

Which one weighs more on the scale?

A Link To The Past was the very first Zelda game I heard people openly gush about — it was so famous indeed that it became the very first SNES game I have ever downloaded (even edging out the GOAT, Super Mario World).

I genuinely didn't think that the Zelda franchise had found its footing among casual, non-hardcore Nintendo fans before this one.

So, basically, I think that ALTtP sprinted so OoT could set speed records.

ALTTP.

It established the gameplay formula and many of the lore aspects that the series is know for today. Without it OoT does not exist.

ALTTP set the lore we'll see in most of the games, had put some staples like the Master Sword, the dungeon formula of having three in the start of the game, Zelda's lullaby, the ocarina (yes it's called flute but it's a translation error) with teleport points, etc...

and generated a formula that would be repeated ad nauseam (until BotW broke free from those constraints).
And people are now asking the series to go back to it...

A link to the past , it genrated the Zelda formula, ocarina of time replicated it on 3d , I think that ocarina made a shit ton of games thanks to its mechanics and processes but a link to the past paved the way

Honestly it's the best formula an adventure game can have. I love it. I eat it up every time a game has it.

A Link to the Past has a pretty strong intro and I like the dungeons a bit better but everything else Ocarina has the edge for me. The sense of adventure was so immense with Ocarina.

ALttP was a game, OoT was more of an adventure I went on.

Ocarina is 100% more iconic and recognisable BUT, like others have said; ALttP set the foundation for the whole franchise going forward for almost 25 years, and many would argue Ocarina is essentially just a 3D remake of ALttP. For that reason; I think you have to give to ALttP, even if personally I think Ocarina is the better game.

I'm tired of the A Link to the past or Ocarina of Time lies.
We all know that the most important Zelda title in the franchise is this one.
