Are you a fan of moe things such as cute characters and so on?

I only hate it in the sense that it has removed all variety in art styles from anime. We used to have so many artists with their unique styles. Some that aimed closer to realism and some that went way deep into the cartoony. It seems that manga and anime studios are dictating a particular style to their creators and that doesn't sit well with me. I may be off in saying that but that is how I feel.

ah, moe

such a nostalgic word
even tho it is super oldschool and lame to do so, i still find myself exclaiming "MOE!" when my moe meter bursts

just look at all the moe points mari-chan here has
her long black hair
her doll-like, porcelain skin
that big, cute red ribbon
the little ribbon on her wrist
those little earrings that hide behind her hair
those gentle eyes (which go along with her gentle personality)
and of course, her maid outfit (bonus points for the poofy sleeves)...which is certainly in the mount rushmore of moe points!

You can't have a moe thread without the high goddess herself, Mikuru Asahina of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya! She's the character that originated the term, and they actually explained what "moe" means in the show. (That's how 11-year-old Gorse learned about it!) Mikuru is still a cutie, all these years later.

People don't really use the term "moe" these days, do they? I haven't actually heard anyone mention it in, like, a decade, but it was a big, well-known thing when I was growing up. Do the people who got into anime after 2015 know what it means? Am I alone, here, in the darkness?

I got into anime in the early 2000's but didn't know what moe was until a few years ago since I hadn't watched anime in years.

Does the thing count as moe/cute if I'm the only only one who thinks it so?

Asking for a friend (me).

Moe is surprisingly easy to understand once you have the basic idea of the aesthetic.

I see.

Kind of off-topic, but I'm really not a big fan of Roll's MM8 redesign. Whenever I see it, I can't help but think about Roll's... creepier fans, if you catch my drift.
Interesting take! Never seen anyone dislike it before considering it’s the most popular. I personally love any roll-fit, she’s just awesome.
How do you feel about Call from mighty no9?IMG_1626.jpeg

I never played Mighty No. 9, so I have no opinion.

Cute Girls are Moe, even with their imperfections, their cuteness shines above it, that's the gap that makes them "Moe"
