GTA V was one of the most important and valuable games I played in my life. Was there for me in hard time. Really helped me English and expand my tastes in media and storytelling. It developed a deeper fondness I have for video game and tv show stories now. It’s one of my favorite games of all time and my second favorite gta. It was also a really big event for me. No game after captured the same feel. Truly one of a kind and I’m grateful for all the memories. R* really knocked it out of the park here, this game was just brimming with passion.

As someone who got into GTA with III, I've repeatedly tried to get into V and have never been able to. I liked IV a lot more. Despite being tired of remasters and remakes, IV's one of those games in need of one.

Anyways, it saddens me that we got GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, Chinatown Wars, IV, IV: The Lost & the Damned, IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony, Bully, Red Dead Revolver, Red Dead Redemption, Manhunt, Manhunt 2, The Warriors, Smuggler's Run, Smuggler's Run 2, Midnight Club, Midnight Club 2, Midnight Club 3, Midnight Club: Lost Angeles, Table Tennis, Max Payne 3, as well as 3rd party Rockstar published games like Oni, State of Emergency, Max Payne 1 and 2, and LA Noire in a span of 11 years, whereas now it takes 13 years to make a new GTA game.

Although today I don't like the GTA series NOW and would rather play Saints Row 3/4, I have many warm memories of GTA 5. I was in mid school and often visited a classmate because he had a PS3 to play with him::smug
And of course, as teenagers, we loved playing GTA. We watched the GTA 5 trailers with such excitement!
So in December 2013 we collected pocket money together for dat desirable GTA 5 disc. We were the happiest kids on Earth that day::sailor-embarrassed

Bought this at a 24-hour Wal Mart on launch day at like 2 in the morning, went home and put the code in for the unlockable blimp. Found it, took it to the highest altitude I could get it to, and jumped out to see if it still conveyed the sensation of falling. It did. Then I played about two more hours and never touched it again. I'm sure it's great given how many times they've reissued it, but it didn't keep my attention.

I got GTA V on PS3 a few weeks after it had come out, and from a local 2nd-hand thrift store. Paid like $30 for it, finished it and took it to a video game shop while it was still valuable enough to them for me to break even on a trade-in.
Good times!

I have since bought it on PS4 & PS5 because I do like the game, and it gets pretty cheap every so often. I'm still kinda nauseous from the 1st-person playthrough I did on PS4 ::nervous-prinny

The real controversy here...
I like Saints Row as a franchise WAY more :loldog

If you had asked me I would say "Saints Row 4 > GTA San Andreas > Sleeping Dogs > the rest of GTA and Saints Row games but GTA 4 and the last Saints Row reboot BS competes with each other on which is the worse" lolol.

Good times.
Wish Franklin's part of the story didn't feel rushed, but overall a great time.

Looking back on it, I probably like 4 more since replaying it, even though 5 plays better than any other game in the series by a million miles. I think I'm just an east coast person more lol

I love Saints Row 1 and 2, however 3 and 4 didn't do much for me. 4 was a worse version of Crackdown. I still don't understand why Saints Row 2 looked so much worse than the first game. As great as it is, Saints Row 2 looks like complete ass.

The fact that Sleeping Dogs put United Front out of business is messed up. That game is so good.

Honestly didn't like its singleplayer mode at all but only with friends GTA Online's existence did matter, otherwise can't imagine having any point to play it alone lol.

Me at right, me bro at left. We are completely opposites and what is common is just bloodline and gender yet this is a small commonality between us that is symbolized in this SS, what a yin yang lolol:

I honestly disliked Saints Row until 4th game. 3rd game had a fun opening and then rest of the game is boring. But why I like 4th game is tons of things. It's like "fixed" version of 3rd + a better opening + Matrix situations and gameplay which I love Matrix (it's like the best Matrix game in existence lol) + decent humor and style + actually fun + dialogues with your homies are fun + whole story mode is fun + it even has fun DLCs. The game is just "perfect" for me taste. Even if it wasn't that good I would like the game for Matrix gameplay anyway.

If a franchise has single entry that lasts over a decade, that's no longer a mere instalment. It's the entire brand.

GTA 6 will never live up to this legacy.
Remember when Star Wars the Phantom Menace released to universal critical acclaim, fan adoration and it make more money than God?
You might struggle to do so because a year later it was re-accessed and history erased the initial overwhelmingly positive reception.
Go look up reactions to the premier if you don't believe me, grown men left the cinema praising it as the greatest thing ever.

The same will happen with GTA 6, especially if the rumours are true and it launches for (A minimum) $100usd
It's too big to fail, But what comes next... oof

GTA 5 had the advantage of being the first decent GTA with decent graphics that tons of new generation kids and new GTA players had to meet + lots of people only cared about its online mode instead, but being the only GTA game that most of people played it will make GTA 5 as the reference point people will use to judge GTA 6. People will judge GTA 6 in GTA 5 context and this judgment will be more towards the expectation of perfection if they really sell the game for $60+, so if the game fails to be decent and buggy and whatnot, any sign of "it's inferior than GTA 5" will cause huge backlash. I can already imagine people judge everything GTA 6 will have by comparing to even GTA 3, and if this difference will be more significant in negative way it will turn into hate camping to make fun of GTA 6 just like Watch Dogs 1 and CyberJunk 2077. It means Rockstar cannot risk releasing a shit GTA game just like how they did after releasing GTA San Andreas that raised the bar to heaven and lowered the expectation for a "better GTA than San Andreas" further to hell in GTA 5. If shit hits the fan at least people will expect a decent GTA Online that's not worse than what GTA 5 have.

Not to mention GTA has no "big deal" popularity compared to how it was back then, because it was the only such an open world game. Now GTA has way more rivals to use as reference point to judge for people. People will even compare it with CyberJunk 2077 to Sleeping Dogs, and will expect to buy pork buns to be a whole man and if you can't do that in GTA 6 they will review bomb it "GTA 6 doesn't let me be a man despite I paid $100 for this rubbish, I'll play Sleeping Dogs instead!!!" lolol.
