I wanna talk about zombie games (or ”games with zombies in them” in layman terms)
Any games that feature zombies to various degrees are valid!

Which games are your favorites? Which interactive interpretation of the living dead do you like the most?

For me, it’s probably pretty basic picks like Resident Evil 2 and Left 4 Dead, but I’d like to imagine there are lots I haven’t tried. I want to get into Project Zomboid more, I haven’t played in a million years though.

My favorite vidya zombie is probably the first one from the first Resident Evil. The way his stare was still so lucid in the original cutscene gave me nightmares as a kid.

i'm not big on zombies, but disgaea 5 has a zombie maid class. they get an extra turn after using an item. pretty helpful early on in the game.

I like Dead Rising concept, just a standard zombie that should not pose much of a threat if there are only a few of them, and the real trouble comes from fellow human.

Aside from Resident Evil, No More Room in Hell is my favorite zombie game.
I never played Left 4 Dead but I think it's the same premise except it's got the classic slow, shuffling zombies (except for a few freshly transformed runners).

Not even kidding: Halo’s fan made Zombies game mode is awesome. Any multiplayer Zombies game can be great fun if you have a group of friends to go along with you! It’s just a matter of having the right friend group is all. I’ve only ever gotten the right people together ONCE but it was one of the most fun times :,)

Do Dry Bones technically count as Zombies, or do they fall too far into the skeleton category to count?
Dry Bones are specifically shown to be skeletons reanimated through magic in the NSMB games, so THEY'RE OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't believe the Mario series actually has any zombies in it, which is a shame.

Old fav, House of the Dead Overkill. Zombies Revenge, beat the shit outta zombies. Current, though haven't played since they dropped the second DLC, Dead Island 2.
Because of this cut scene, I have a bad habit of when talking to people, and they say conversation, I automatically respond with"Conver-fucking-sation?" without thinking.

CDDA, is the pinnacle of zombie and apocalypse games.

Also, #Shameless_plug

This shit is fun I promise.

Death Road to Canada is a Randomly Generated Road Trip Simulator. You control and manage a car full of jerks as they explore cities, recruit weird people, argue with each other, and face gigantic swarms of slow zombies.

Death Road is built for replay value. Everything is randomized: locations, events, survivor appearances and personalities. There's a different story every time you play, set in a world that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Is it bad that I can recite the whole game dialog from start to finish?

Have you ever wanted to be a zombie hunting, chainsaw wielding, severed head for a boyfriend having high school cheerleader? Well then do I have the game for you!

It also got a rerelease on modern consoles and PC.

I forced myself to play the X360 Japanese version, glad it got a remaster.

This is common across most zombie media though, gaming or otherwise
Yeah but you rarely fight against human in video games outside the boss battles, even then it's usually a special mutation or some kind of non-zombie monstrosities.

It does, actually! They're just a rare enemy type. Super Mario Land for the Game Boy has Pionpi which is designed to look like jiangshi (Chinese vampire/zombie hybrid). The newest one I can think of are the mud troopers from Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.

Edit: Adding Zombie Guys from Yoshi's Crafted World. I'm not adding a picture of them because they look almost identical to their living counterparts. The differences are that they're covered in dirt and move via the classic zombie shuffle.

Bowser being burned alive to a skeleton then being reanimated in NSMB DS was fire.

Also a Koopa being turned into a Dry Bones after Bowser spits a fireball at him during the Mario movie made me laugh out loud.

Oh, duh, of course! My mind was going to SML2 because it has a horror-themed world, but I believe the furthest that game goes in terms of undead enemies are vampires and Jason-mask goombas. (Which I guess both kind of count in a technical way, but I wouldn't really consider them full zombies.) Great catch!

I had a short period where I was into zombies as a kid, before Walking Dead and all the more modern games. The House of the Dead was my game (CarnEvil was cool too, though definitely cheaper), and when I started playing Magic the Gathering in elementary school I went for a zombie deck. Much later on I got into early Resident Evil and stuff like that. I played Zombie Revenge for a while but didn't beat it in arcade mode. I need to get back to it. It took a while before I really got it, but it's a cool game.

Is it troubling that I'm starting to feel nostalgic for the zombie mania of the 2010s? Because I actually liked a lot of that media. I totally get why everyone burned out on it, but I still think zombies are cool.

Zombies will always be cool.

Okay, I feel bad for derailing the thread with Mario lore, so I'm going to post some "real" zombie games ::booshy

I got to try out House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn on an arcade cabinet with a second player. I LOVE how the series has evolved since I last played! The giant swarms of zombies, the new weapons, the set pieces, the player-rescue mechanic, the bosses, Kate Green's absolutely bitchin' evening gown, it's all just *chef's kiss*. The devs even decided to keep some of the SFX from the older games and embraced the corny dialogue the series is infamous for.
