Yu-Gi-Oh!

I do like the idea of card-battle games. What would be an easy intro to this series?
That recent-ish F2P game Master Duel worked wonders for me. It hasn’t helped me learn the intricacies (but I think it can do that) but part of the fun, at least as a casual, with digital versions of card games is them helping you with the logic and resolutions, so it kinda makes it less daunting.

I made something called an Amazoness deck which still feels pretty good in normal play, but I haven’t dared branching off very much lol

I found Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution was a great way to learn the game. I played the card game as a kid, but when I got back into the game in 2022, it helped me learn the mechanics. The tutorials are extensive (if a bit unintuitive) and has a long single player campaign that will slowly teach you Fusion, Synchro, XYZ, Pendulum and Link summoning. Game has no DLC or microtransactions too. Though good luck finding a game against another person, but if you want to learn the mechanics I highly recommend it.

Also EDOPro and YGO Omega are free auto sims you can try out if you want to play around with more up-to-date cards, but not have to gamble any gems/money in Master Duel.

Thanks for the replies. From the sounds of it, there is no easy intro, lol. I was kinda hoping casual intro but it's not to be an that's fine. Good to know beforehand. Don't have enough patience when it comes to intricate gaming anymore. Age will do that to you.

Unfortunately, that is a big problem with Yu-Gi-Oh! The on-boarding for new players is not good at all. They tried with a Two Player Stater Set, but the product was not that great and had odd design choices (like no mat despite zones placement actually mattering with a lot of cards).

I love the game, but it is one of the hardest to get into due to how fast it is and lack of real resource system. It is a mountain compared to Magic or Pokémon. Most duels can end in two to three turns if using meta decks.

You could play the older video games on the GBA/DS if you want a taste, though. They are way slower, lacking a lot of mechanics introduced later on. GOAT format is also much easier to get into as it is largely a slow game about out advantaging your opponent. And Forbidden Memories on the PS1 plays nothing like the actual card game, but lots of people love it to bits.

EVERYONE STAY STILL BLACK ROSE SUPPORT IN 2025

I had a feeling it'd be these two, but we actually get the brand new Akiza cards in this
Thats actually reallt great

Today I happened to out a RANK 13 unaffected by all card effects!

Pretty badass moment lol

PS: Don't mind to much my Maliss lines, I'm not super familiar with the deck and I'm just freestyling

Back in my old an ancient days when the pharaos playing around our garden of eden , we summoned Blue Eyes white Dragons by sacrificing monsters on the field and Trap-cards are actual traps that brought you sweat on forehead and you strategise how to avoid the trigger for it while magic equipment-cards were badass and the best supports for monsters that go hard on the field .

Nowadays its rather Meta-tournament solitair with frogs , small children and "harmless" furries while the opponent looks like an idiot who chosed to not start on the first turn .

Does somebody still play the Blackluster-soldier ? D.D. Decks anyone ? Horus-Dragon Lv. 6?

... where am i and where is my idiot grandson ?

So I was playing Master Duel, having a good session with the Gladiator Beast deck, until I started losing non-stop.

I got sick of losing and the very moment I switched to Fiendsmith Control I get a long winning streak

Wow that sure is a lot of reprints... These 2 new cards are not that good though. Maybe the synchro is alright but that's about it, would've been better if it was a tuner.
But THESE I'm VERY excited for. Can't wait to test these out soon.

Well, I just had a 63 Turn duel in the Synchro Cup on Master Duel.

Psychic End Punisher.jpg

I forgot to put in Duster, but whatever. Still won against the Subterror menace with my janky P.U.N.K. Gold Pride Synchro mess. I ended up sticking it out just to see how high Psychic End Punisher's Attack would get. Guy did everything in his power to prolong the duel and ended up surrendering when he got his deck to 0 cards.

I can't wait for this Synchro Cup to finish. A miserable experience so far. The mechanic is in a very garbage state rn

Between Ryzeal and Maliss, which are easier to climb ladder with?

is he in the room with us ? bobby. ::thinking ::winkfelix

Master duel player. I mostly play nonmeta slop that most people would make fun of you for even playing if the game had a chat system to allow it.
Weather Painters is my favorite deck that I use all the time. I also work with Dream mirror on the side as well. These decks may not be great but I make it into Diamond consistently each season and Weather painters has gotten me into Masters a few times. Rather than playing whats good, I just play what I like and learned how to work around the environment I'm playing in. I know what match ups I just can't win and don't stress about it.

Worldwide Edition: Stairway To The Destined Duel for the GBA is what helped me get a basic idea of how to play the series (cira 2003) and I love it. That being said, the game by no means beginning friendly and seemingly gives you too many powerful cards and not enough lower level monsters to properly summon them all

Tbh, the game play in the IRL card game has evolved A LOT since Worldwide Edition was released, so your mileage may vary
