Maybe some of you who played either or both versions of Ys V could comment on what versions you prefer. Also, possible emulator quirks. Thanks.
I've played the SNES version and found it very dull when it comes to gameplay, but I have to admit, I could resume it. The story was intriguing, but I know it won't be a great pay off like other installments. :D I also really liked the artwork, even though the game doesn't look nearly as nice as many other SNES RPGs.
I've played an hour of the PS2 version. Gamplay wise, It seems like a prototype of Ys VI. The thumbstick for example can't register a proper downward motion in battle, so doing a downward stab from the air on enemies is super unreliable. Maybe this is also a lack of proper stick sensitivity that I can adjust in PCSX2? Who knows... Otherwise, Adol controls like someone made the PC versions of Ys VI or Oath in Felghana reduce from 60 to 30 fps. It's not ideal when you come from VI/Felghana/Origins, but it's totally fine. I really love the world building. At least in the first hour, the characters seem more dynamic than in the SNES version. There also seem to be more characters sharing hints and world knowledge more freely. I got a side quest in the first 10 minutes of the game, and I don't remember that one being in the SNES version. Also... Dogi is with you from the start <3
