Saw the movie two weeks ago with my friend, and we had a blast, it was scary, well shot, the dialogue was good, the actors were 50/50, Clark and Mary were really good, but the 2 employees weren't the best but hey they weren't in the movie for long so they didn't get old.

It connects to the YouTube series perfectly, the monster designs were really nice (outside that one prosthetic) and the blender scenes were a nice treat.

I do not get why people hated on it, maybe they expected it to be based on that wiki?

i saw it. It was alright but it didnt answer the broader series questions i was expecting it to, infact it just left more questions

Yeah the creator said that the movie will just be a part of the series not its end/penultimate "episode", I think he plans to finish the series on YouTube.

*50 50 gesture*

As a standalone movie it works as a unique claustrophobic horror flick, i liked also how for being a horror film, it isn't a salad of jumpscares, instead letting the horror of being in another world unable to leave and Clark's madness be better for the scares

On the bad, the movie was too slow to showcase the titular "Monster" and while as mentioned the movie works by itself, they are parts that expect you to at least seen a resume of Kane Pixels' (20 years old) series to grasp some stuff like ASYNC or why there are distorted persons of a sudden

By the monster you mean the Captain Clark one? I don't know, I think it is perfectly timed, the Backrooms isn't about the monsters within, it is about how it distorts reality and minds of people, so it makes sense to hold off on revealing the creatures.

Yeah I think they should have at least somewhat introduce ASYNC in the start of the film, that's one of the things I do criticize the film for, the distorted people shouldn't be that surprising tho, even to casual viewers, the complex already distorts objects, why wouldn't it be able to distort humans.

I meant the Backromms themselves, but i agree with ASYNC appearing from nowhere

i do admire the idea and the lore of backrooms but i just couldn't get into this - i thought it was never gonna end , i was so bored.

as a fan of Parson's previous works, especially The Oldest View, it was wonderful seeing him get the love and attention he's deserved from day one. His unique style is one of a kind, and his skills with Blender are absolutely fucking insane. I also how the movie dealt with trauma was fantastic. Probably the best movie I've seen this year.

The Oldest View was phenomenal, I am glad he is gaining momentum in his trade and career. I am curious if he will make another movie again.

Man, that one was both scary AND sad, especially if you know the real life background of the statue

as someone who went in knowing nothing, I thought it was wack with characters making bad decisions. Super moody and it gets points for creativity, but that doesn't make it a good movie.

Enjoyed it. Chiwetel Ejiofor is a great actor. Excellent visuals and use of found footage style filmmaking. Could have leant into the horror harder. Best part for me was
the infinite tower block and staircase leading to nowhere. As someone with a fear of heights, I'd have considered trying my luck with the Pirate.
