I probably am highly partial to the remakes because

I hated losing Nei. It hurt, it hurt real bad. It was Aerith a decade prior. Since the remakes give you a chance to undo that pain, they are important to me.

I know what you mean about the looks of it all, but I honestly like it. I think it animates well and the remixed music is nice. It does have a bit of a RPG Maker feel to it, but I think it works.

You've just put a name to the exact feeling I get from it that I hadn't thought of all those years!
Yes, it feels like a professional (if budget) RPG Maker release.

Actually got it working after I posted this, I had to adjust some settings within OPL and it worked. It looks great
