Fantasy war settings or games based on historical wars, either is fine. Just post whichever ones you like. I'm generally just thinking of games where two or more large factions, countries, forces, etc. wage big, epic battles against each other with high stakes and large body counts. Or any game with a story that revolves around war is fine too. I'm trying to not make this too restrictive.

"Killzone": I played "Mercenary" on Vita and the one on psp, enjoyed both.

Too many to mention

As aside from MH Dos, Rune Factory, some fishing titles on the SNES (all Bass), Lost in Blue and DW Mahjong

All games I play nowadays are war-related, and they are all RETRO (SNES, PSX, GBA, PS2, NDS)

P.S. I stopped playing RPGs that basically has a plot of "medieval fantasy party saving the world" kind of thing nowadays...

Freedom fighters was fun, one of the few games I actually finished

Los juegos de guerra que he jugado son la saga Age of Empires y su homólogo Age of Mythology, Halo 1, Halo 2 en consolas y Brother in Arms contra 4 en ds, call of duty 2 ps2 y contra, super contra en nes.

ooh man, playing North & South against a friend was such a blast!! :D

weird way to enjoy warfare in a strategic form is Nintendos Wars series.. its put in such a cutesy manner that it paints war in a surreal fun way... it IS really fun, but if you think what is actually happening it is jarring

oh and Battlefield 1 is a mixture of fictional and historical WW1 really well done by DICE... imho the best in all of the series

and final recommendation is "Ring of Red" for PS2

I miss this game so much.

Battlefield 2 is probably my favourite war themed game, it still has a user base now, and particularly with the AIX mod has a lot of replayability. In terms of the Battlefield series though, I know some people swear by the Star Wars Battlefront games - particularly the first two.

I'd also mention Delta Force, Spec Ops, Hidden and Dangerous and Operation Flashpoint to round off the PC tactical shooter experience.

It also depends what you mean by 'war themed', as games like the Wolfenstein and Medal of Honour series also could feature. They both definitely feature battlefields, even if you're a lonely soldier.

The Advance Wars series for the GBA and DS.
These are really fun, and i was really impressed at how they did a strategy game for a handheld console.

Easy Red 2

I really like Sudden Strike: Resources War for some reason.

Having to watch out and account for every drop of fuel, every bullet and every shell your weapons, vehicles and units use (otherwise, they'd become useless hunks of metal and sitting ducks) may sound annoying and exhausting, but it adds a beautiful extra layer to the gameplay that I have really come to appreciate and even wish was presented elsewhere.

Your units don't just fight to the bitter end like in so many other RTSs, they need proper organization to even reach that stage. It's very nerve-wracking and addicting.

i played A LOT of History Line 1914-1918 .. from Blue Byte who made the Battle Isle series that was inspired by the game Military Madness.
The Andosia War wasn't the most popular game in the series because of the shift to 3D but i really loved it.

If I really had to choose, I'd pick Warzone 2100 and Front Mission 3. Warzone always got me with the ability to build your own vehicles and Front Mission 3 is simply one of the best games ever made.
