NO NOT THE TIGER ONE!!!!!!

There is only one NES game here that will always be on my number one for all time:

It was a port of Sid Mier's Pirates for the nes, and my god was it amazing. Even now, I am blown away at the scope of this game, the ambition.

It's basically broken into three different modes of gameplay. You sail arround, fighting other ships, you can launch land battles to take towns, or just go about trading.

It's really in a league of it's own for the feeling of freedom this little nes game has. I revisit it on my miyoo occasionally, as it's just one of those games that will never stop being good.

Oh this is pretty simple.
  • Ninja Gaiden
  • Castlevania
  • Contra
  • Ducktales
  • Dragon Warrior III
I’ll also need to beat crystalis.

I just LOOOOOOOOOVE Battle City on Famicom.

My sister and I went at it for literal hours whenever we got bored of getting killed on SMB and didn't really feel like battling on Urban Champion.

Love loads of NES games but the first that springs to mind is Bionic Commando.

I find this game super satisfying to play and has quite a high skill requirement. Watching top players is amazing.

It's even weirder that the snes was already 3 years old when it came out.
I was barely cognizant when it came out (roughly 3/4) but the NES was still popular around that time from what I gather and the Top Loader had just been released. So I think both Kirby's Adventure and Zoda's Revenge: Star Tropics 2 were the last great hurrahs for the system. You also can beat getting a console for 50 bux

I guess it's just weird looking at it through a modern lens. Setting out to develop and release a new kirby game for the original switch now for example would seem like pretty weird move even if it is still a popular system.

It's still a bit weird to me that it took Kirby coming over the the NES/Famicom for him to get his copy ability
I'd call that technical limitations.

Dreamland 2 was pushing the GB to its limits.

Castlevania 3 without a doubt. I loved and owned the original, played it many many times. I didn't own 2 until much later. It was fun, but I really preferred the original. When the 3rd one finally came out, I remember renting it one night, but my parents didn't let me play it that night as I had to go to bed and get up super early for 6th grade jazz band practice. I got up even earlier that morning, played up until the Clock Tower level. I remember being blown away by the music. My parents made me turn off the game and sent me to school. I got back that afternoon ready to play, only to find that they had taken it back to the video store. The particular store I rented it from only had a one-night rental for $3. A few years later I finally got a copy of CV3, and it was everything I hoped it to be. Also, it turned out to be the game that got me into Famicom collecting years down the road, as once I found out the music was different in that version, I had to acquire a copy of it, along with a model 2 fami.

Game is incredible, and definitely the best of the classic series.
