The GameBoy has an 8 bit CPU, so it counts. I just want to see what people think is their favorite.

For me, it’s between Super Mario Bros. 1 and Super Mario Land 2. But, being honest with myself, I never pass up an opportunity to play Mario 1, so it gets my vote, but it’s very close.

I absolutely LOVE Super Mario Land 2, fantastic level design, very unique locations and levels, the graphics and art direction are wonderful, and it also introduces the character Wario, who became a fan favorite among fans.

It significantly improves upon its predecessor, offering a richer, more diverse and immersive experience.

The secrets in Mario 3 were a lot of fun to find. I have fond memories of making the coin ships appear, and eventually learning how to do it on purpose.
You too?! Yeah, I kept making those coin ships appear on accident as a kid, but I can never seem to do it now as an adult lol

When i was a kid, i only had Super Mario Bros 1 and 2 (nes), and didn't have 3 or others.
I love both of them, but i guess i love 2 a bit more. 😊

Later, i played 3 too, but at that time, i was almost grown up, so it didn't have much effect on me... but i can imagine i would love it as a kid.

Note:
By "2" i mean "Super Mario Bros. USA/2 (1988)"

Oh darn this is tough.
SML2 was the first Mario game I beat when I was a kid. (I may not have beaten it actually, but I remember getting to Wario’s castle) So it definitely has a sweet spot in my heart.

SMB3 is incredible and important, but I played it after SMW so it lost a lot of its wow factor in comparison.

I love SMBUSA/2, but I don’t know if I’d call it my favorite.

Honestly the one I still play consistently and probably the most is Super Mario Land. It’s just so easy to pick up and play, I don’t know why I love it so much. I guess that has to be my number one, with the sequel right behind it.

Some of you haven't played "Baby Mario" back in the day, and it shows.

Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa was put on a bootleg cart and it was a sleeper hit in the rental market.
Never played it under that title, but I yeah would rank BMBU as superior to most of the 8 bit Super Mario games.

Mario 3 is the perfect culmination of everything that came before for me it's one of the definitive Mario games with how many staples it introduced the world select world themes boss castles air ships multiple power ups ect Mario Land 2 is just super unique fun and introduced Wario who should have really been a main villain more than once

I voted SMB3, but it's actually none. I voted just for the technical prowess of the game on the system, but it's SMW to me.
There’s a reason I specified “8-bit”. Because I knew that if I included Mario World, it would sweep the poll.

Super Mario Land 2's soundtrack is very good and underrated in my opinion.

1. Super Mario Bros. 2 USA
2. Super Mario Land 2
3. Super Mario Land
4. Super Mario Bros. 3
5. Super Mario Bros.
6. Super Mario Bros. 2 Japan

I don't necessarily think my 1-3 picks are better than SMB3, just I've played it so much I find the other games more interesting.
