You play monster hunter? If yes , which are your main weapon/s

Plesioth, Lavasioth, and the Gravios family are the reasons I make a ranged set. I don't like using ranged but in MHFU these guys basically force me to.
Yep . I learned to use the light and heavy bowguns efficiently too and i actually like those . On an emulator it can work as a third-person-shooter but on a regular PSP i would leave those in a heartbeat .

No spoilers from me, I promise. I tried CB on occasion and it is satisfying to a degree, but I don't like transformables.

Call me crazy, but I like fighting Gravios. The others are definitely terrible though.
Charge Blade is great fun but the learning curve can be kinda steep, especially with the fact that axe mode goes unused quite often at least with the playstyle I take. It's fun to hear other people's takes on all this stuff

Lavasioth is a great monster and I will die on that hill (no not lava Jyuratodus)

EDIT: minor fixes

I do like ranged play, but it only clicked for me in 4U/GU in terms of it feeling good and having good scope control options. And then with World/Rise it somehow felt less impactful and satisfying, so it feels like a step back for me.

Speaking of hills to die on, I have a very lonely one too. I don't like the fact that series has two half axes, but no complete axe weapon. I'd love to combine half of the switchaxe and half of the charge blade and make a full axe out of that weapon, but I know I will draw the ire of many for saying this.

Because the gameplay stays in its Dodge-play in the old games like the dual-blades or long-sword while in world and rise they actually made those into totally different weapons that you can bury the mosnters full with lead with ease . And those aim assists cheapens the gameplay too . Its not bad but a bit too watered downed . Thats why those weapons to this day were OP in World . (Never played Rise so i cant say about this games ranged weapons)

Yeah, you nailed it. It went from "How MH does ranged" to "We do ranged pretty close to the usual third person FPS now." I could never put my finger on it, but you found the reason of my general distaste.

Progress on getting Monster Hunter Explore back up and running is going slow and steady so if you're patient enough then you can just wait for that to be playable again to try out the Accel Axe.

Nah, that's an even lonelier hill to die on. As a compromise, Capcom could canonize the Japanese name of the Charge Blade everywhere instead. It would make me a bit happier.

They could also bring back the side step guard point but we all have dreams, don't we? (I'm not coping, I swear)

We certainly do, we certainly do. Charge Axe just makes more sense to me, but one of my personal curses is fixating on these details, haha.

This is off topic i've just never played a monster hunter game myself and i've been wanting to get into it, i assume its just one of thoes games you can jump into at any point, but lmk if im wrong, and if so, where should i start, any tips are nice too lol

Not really totally offtopic, I'd say. For my money, if you are an aspiring hunter, you should probably try a relatively recent entry for ease of play, so either MH World or MH Rise, unless you prefer more classic entries.

Buy Wilds, ride the wave while it lasts. Pick whatever weapon looks cool and have fun in multiplayer.

Charge Axe just sounds cooler, Charge Blade makes the weapon seem more sophisticated than it actually is. SAED and Savage Axe go brrrrrrrrrrrr

Like @Arifolly says, though, if you'd rather be on the bleeding edge, go for Wilds. Just keep in mind requirements are on the high side somewhat and optimization will take some time.

I love Lance and Great Sword. I’m getting spoiled in Wilds with how fun and effective they are.

I’ve also dabbled in Dual Blades, Charge Blade and Long Sword but I’m not as interested in them.

I have to admit that despite liking Gunlance I never really tried Lance. I should, though.

To me, Lance feels like the ultimate hero job for fighting big-ass dragons, while Gunlance felt gimmicky and more about the spectacle, but to each their own.
It’s got a deceptively simple moveset (like Greatsword) but if you’re nimble and quick to react to monsters you feel immortal because you can block anything and deal super respectable damage literally non-stop.

If there’s one thing I’m halfway decent at in MH it’s hugging monsters, and that’s where Lance shines the most.

And the fantasy of HOLDING THE LINE, with your indestructible shield is just amazing when it hits just right.

Very well said. As for GL, I get a kick out of blasting the monster's face, haha.

If it wasn’t to similar in look to Lance I’d have tried it more, but alas.

I think the next one I’m gonna dive into in Wilds is Dual Blades. I want to play something a bit faster too.
Or I’ll just go gung-ho, dishonor my bladmaster ancestors and learn Heavy Bowgun!

Gunlance trades defensive ability for offense. Your 3 or 4 blocks get reduced to just 1 or 2 but in turn you get a ton of attacks that completely ignore hitzones for half of them and are just straight busted in a couple games because in Frontier and Wilds shells scale with raw damage of the weapon and still ignore hitzones afaik. Plus there's the crazy movement in MHRS which just is the icing on the cake.

I'd have designed GL to eschew shields completely, essentially turning into the hyper offensive counterpart of the polearm line. Similar to how DB gives up the shield for more offense.

The counterweight coincidentally blocks attacks

Perfect for adjusting flight trajectory and bashing monsters skulls in after a good healthy shelling, in addition to preventing our brave hunters from falling over when one handing a gunlance... what do you mean it's a shield?

I've played my first monster hunter game last year (Rise) and I can't focus on one weapon, that's not my style, so instead I play every single weapon except hunting horn. I can use everything cause I have to be flexible if I ever play with someone (I don't know how to make friends to play games with, but I certainly try to prepare for the chance!)
