Emulation is allowed in like 99% of speedruns, just saying.

This is just the PS2 mini with the Memcard gen2 embedded in the case using the memory card port 2, the type-c port for ac adapter and the HDMI mod, which I find totally meaningless as the console is meant to be used in a CRT TV. I never understood why people pay a lot of money for this, they remove the DVD drive in order to be able to make it smaller, but they are removing a feature.

I prefer to use my base PSTWO, insert my memcard gen2 and play whatever I want through it, and if I have any issues, use a burnt DVD. PS2 semi new lens are still cheap :)

ps2 is a console that i dont mind being on an hdtv anything before that, i would agree should be on crt

You're lucky then. I can't stand anything before PS360 on a non CRT TV. The blurriness and the input lag is just too much for me. Not even Wii I can play. The only exception is PSTV, but the image is so-so.

With a good de-interlacer I can see PS2, XBOX, etc. being pretty good on a modern flatscreen. The games are predominantly 480i anyway so it's not like they need/use CRT scanlines. And pixel art isn't low-res enough that it's heavily relying on phosphor blur to generate new intermediate colours and stuff other than in the retro compilations released on it.

I agree with them that the Wii looks like shit on a flatscreen though. It's so fucking blurry and fuzzy due to a bunch of factors. I got an Mclassic and an HDMI adapter and that helps a lot, but I still think it'd look better on a CRT. Too bad there's 16:9-only Wii games and stuff.

If Sony cared and actually tried with the Playstation mini I'm sure we'd have a PS2 mini by now.

purely real hardware. would make my speedrunning hobby less expensive lol
I saw this earlier! It's awesome how fans and console lovers are making neat goodies like this.

Damn it very epic !!! ::fire ::fire ::fire

That reminds me of the official PS1 mini.

Gran Turismo 4 deserves an HDTV imo but anything else on PS2 just winds up looking better on a proper CRT, regardless of my opinion, this looks cool as hell.

Not for me. I love the way the Phat PS2 looks with the official stand. I never cared for the PS2 Slim.

As for image quality on an HDTV, either spend money on a RetroTink or a similar device, or if you can't afford that, use OPL GSM's 1080i setting. The 480p and 720p settings have a lot of issues, however the 1080i setting works with pretty much every game and will make them look like Gran Turismo 4's 1080i setting.
