wanted to share something i've read recently but also want a place to know what u guys read! no nsfw pls some titles may be explicit (just give a heads up) but i more so want to discuss the plot/characters/art/etc

Was lucky to find both issues at my local used media shop! (no the cashier did not make eye contact with me, why do you ask?)
A really fun read, a quick synopsis is that a struggling portrait artist is commissioned by a rich vampire who has forgotten what he looks like. He allows the artist to live with him while he works on the portrait, and hijinks ensue. Surprisingly a lot of focus on vampire family drama & vampire origins, there are even some cool fight scenes here.
Despite the covers, it's not really that explicit. iirc there are two spicy scenes throughout both books that are more focused on the characters bonding rather than showing the reader what they're doing. (this series got some critical reception for not including more "yaoi scenes" lol)
overall would recommend if ur into vampire media, i was hooked & wish it was longer

I used to be so into yaoi, but the unfortunate truth about yaoi is that it'll always be very sexually driven. It's a little saddening though.
That being said! I have a friend who is very much into yaoi! Banana Fish is his favorite!
And if you're cool with non-canon yaoi, Assassination Classroom is amazing! Karmagisa is what got me into shipping.

And if you want yuri, try Adachi to Shimamura!

Well, if we're strictly into anime/manga territory, I watched Given and it was a ok watch for me. It never really gets sexual except for like a one-second non-explicit flashback scene. Also it touches on themes such as depression, loss and forming a band. In fact, I'd that the romance aspect is more of a coat of paint than anything.

If we're leaving the anime/manga territory though, Starry Flowers. A bit off-topic I know, but this game satisfies me in a way that no other romance does.

Sequel never ever despite the sequelbait ending, as usual with the one off 80s OVA. And shame there's no higher definition version (at least not to my knowledge) so I could get a better look at the actual stars of the show.

I think the first yaoi manga I read was that one with those two tribes. The chief's families have to marry into each other. I think that's it. But the other tribe only has a boy to offer. So they send him as a bride. It was really cute. I think they end up raising some orphans together. But I can't remember the name of it. It's probably from the late 90s.

I have all the volumes of Fake. I bought those at Suncoast back when Suncoast was a thing. I miss Suncoast.

I'm more of a Yuri type of dude but I do enjoy yaoi. If you're not adverse to Vns I recommend Parades stuff and Nitro+. They're really hardcore with the material in it but they're my favorites, I do prefer Parade more with Lykt and NTY.

yeah I also grew out of watching/reading it too, I'm not against it though just kinda forgot about it after my teens lol

I don't read much yaoi anymore but some works I really liked are Umibe no Etranger/Harukaze no Etranger (sequel), both the manga and movie, I think Harukaze has some sex scenes but the story isn't centered in that, The Summer Hikaru Died is more of a shounen-ai with horror but I really love it, maybe because I've been queer and closeted for over a decade so it taps somewhat into my personal feelings
